Koji's First CPE Trial

Honestly, to be able to even see the course in person and walk it. Makes soooo much more sense.

Didn't I tell you that?

The descriptions are confusion because they have to cover a lot of material and while its relevant, it's not necessarily important. But if you don't know, how do you weed out the "must know" from the "its here if I need it" stuff?

I'd say, even if you can go watch, listen to the briefing, it helps a lot. Silaria's video's help, but honestly, if you don't know what path she's running it's hard to figure out what is going on. LOL.

True, they aren't 100% helpful in teaching the game. I could try to scan the course maps but I don't think you are allowed to post maps without the judge's OK.

I had to really think about that one. Because most of the NADAC trials I go to, you have serious competitors (one is a finalist for the Purina Inc Challenge and many more participated), and not that many in 16" either. Which means, 16" usually only has 3-5 dogs running. Koji isn't typically the winner. So, when we ran Jumpers and there were about 15 dogs running in the 16" category (which btw, ranges from 16-20" dogs - versus NADAC's 18" and under) and we still got 1st place. Honestly, that was my proudest moment. Especially after a hard day.

He was super fast. Ran all out. Had fun. And even against the 20" Aussies', he still won. :) My proud Mama moment.

That is awesome!! You have a right to be proud. Though I can't believe there's no video  Haha--kidding of course!

There ARE videos. I just haven't uploaded them yet. AND I even bought some "professional" videos. They are taken from a high viewpoint and are very cool to watch. I should get those later in the week.

Maybe I'll get some videos up by tomorrow.

Akc

Looking forward to seeing your videos Cheryl. Congrats on doing a great job with Kojii and all your Q's.

Woohoo!! Looking forward to it! I really like reading descriptions of the runs and seeing a video. Helps it make more sense to me :)

Videos: They're here!!!!

These are all of it (that hubby got), so you can pick and choose which ones you want to watch. I don't expect anyone to watch them all. lol.

The Good:
Colors Round 1: My first run of the day, thankfully it was an easy game.
Hubby missed my awesome Jumpers run that got me a 1st place out of a ton of dogs, so when I get the prof one, I'll post that later.
Colors: my 12 second run
Full House: I'm proud of this one, he took the tire at an angle and it was fun mostly because if he missed something, oh well, move on. Loved his weaves, once he got in.
Wildcard: Nothing fancy to add to this description.

The Bad:
Standard Round 1: Wanna see a dog jump a foot from the contacts?
Snookers: It's really not bad, but it's funny, cuz I'm like, oh yeah, go here, no wait, go there, whoa, go over there. lol. You probably can't tell though.
Standard Round 2: Koji Q'd and got 1st place with this run....I'm embarrassed to admit that.

The Ugly: aka embarssing
Jackpot: Remember, Koji has no distance yet, this was going well.....until.....
Jumpers Round 2: This got to be down right embarrassing.

Kojii's Videos

You did Kojii did and awesome job.Don't ever say your emabarassed about your dog's win. Be proud. You work is paying off. He is fast little bugger.Keep up the great work Shadow says so!!!!!!!:biggrin2:

I haven't had a chance to watch the videos yet but I wanted to comment on this.

I have a T-shirt (won it at an agility trial raffle) that simply says "Dirty Q's Count Too".

Don't be embarrassed about your runs. As long as you and your dog are out there having fun (or he's at least having fun doing whatever they decide to do) then its all good. I've actually gotten much better at having that mindset this year and my runs have improved because of it. Prior to this year I still put pressure on myself to 'not look foolish' which caused stress that Edan picked up on and must have thought I was disappointed in him and didn't want to play with me at trials.

Cheryl--you guys did great! Even the "embarrassing" ones aren't as bad as I was expecting. You should definitely be proud. Koji has really come a long way from some of the first videos I watched of him.

It's interesting to watch, too, because I recognize that he and Bentley are similar. Neither wants to work away, etc...I saw that Koji isn't too keen on being sent out to tunnels, especially when a rear cross is involved. Bentley is the exact same way. It's that velcro mentality of "hey wait, where are you going? I can't see you!" That being said, Koji had a great a-frame where you lagged behind and I think rear crossed, and he went on (yay independent obstacle completion!)

Congrats again!
