Lexi's getting spayed

*Caro warned me about the super pup mode after Smudge got spayed. Both Smudge and Fluffy were seriously wired up the second/third day. Beware!

Glad all went well with Lexi's surgery!! Megan wore a soft donut shaped cone around her neck for the first week at least when we couldn't watch her..She did fine and so will Lexi

So glad to hear everything is going well. I will be going through the same with Bella in just a week or two..and I can't bare the thought of it..but i know it will all be ok just like your little Lexi..your in my thoughts.

So she is home now and doing great. In fact, you can barely tell she even had surgery. She is a little less mobile, but they brought her out and she was too busy trying to eat the leftover crumbs out of a bowl on the ground to even notice we were there! :rolleyes2:

I put a little t-shirt on her, because I'd rather do that than the cone, but I don't think it's foolproof, so she may wear the cone when we're not home.

Her brothers (Bentley and Bimmer) are so sad that they can't visit her. She is in the living room in a little x-pen and they are sniffing each other through the pen.

The vet gave us instructions to not let her run, jump, play roughly for 10 WHOLE DAYS. That is so long for our little rambunctious girl. Mommy is going to need a valium!!!! :biggrin2:

Thanks for everyone's well-wishes. Let's hope she recovers quickly with no complications! (We are supposed to start an agility class on 5/20!)

Good luck on the 10 days!! Wouldn't that be more than 2 months in dog years?

Glad to hear that her appetite wasn't affected. :wink2:

Well good luck with the 10 days! I can see being careful about jumping, rough play etc.I've had females here, that honestly other than a shaved belly, you would never know they had surgery, they did so very well.

Some do well, and others need activities curbed, and kept seperate from other pets, because they are so rambunctious.

The surgery is quite serious compared to neutering, and she does have stitches deep, not just on the surface.Did they use glue to close her or stitches on the outside?

Sending well wishes for a speedy recovery.

Yes, she has surgical glue on the outside, and stitches that will dissolve on the inside.

She is already tired of being cooped up. We brought her home and put her in her crate in the bedroom, and she cried. So we put her in her x-pen in the living room. She slept a bit, then cried. She desperately wants to get out and interact with everyone. I tried holding her on the couch with me, but she wants to jump down, so that's not an option. Now she's back in her x-pen with a bone. It's the only thing that will keep her quiet! I think she's very hungry, but she's already eaten her 1/4 C for the evening (vet said to only feed half her dinner).

My goal is to keep her quiet/calm for maybe 5-7 days. 10 seems unreasonable considering she's already bored.

Hope that Lexi is doing well.

Emma was rather perturbed at not being able to run and charge around outside following her spay. She never showed a bit of pain behaviors other than she did not want to jump down from Russ's bed (thank goodness). She did not need a cone. She was good!

So even with an alpha girl you can keep them calmer...I just had to keep Emma in a completely separate room (not just separated by an xpen).

Poor Lexi, having surgery and then does not get to play. I am so glad she is home and doing well. I doubt you will make it 10 days of no play. I am sure I did not keep Maggie from play that long- she was a real gotta go all the time puppy like your Lexi. Good luck and give her a kiss.
