Thanks! She was taking Tramadol (which I hear may not actually work on dogs!) Gabbapentin, and prozac.
I hope it all helped her enough. Gave her some narcotic resistance, the vet said, so that it took more med than usual to tranquilize her.
Dogs are actually fortunate to have euthanasia....When used the right way.
Thanks so much..
I didn't think about Metacam or CBD.

We also had Hollie on Metacam (she had a dislocated shoulder from falling down the stairs when she was about 5, and had pain since). It did make a big difference in her pain.

My dog trainer recently began selling CBD and she has had clients that have seen huge improvements, including her own elderly collie.

Many thanks...Lucky is gone. I miss her so!! But it was time and we did use all the meds we were allowed to have up till she departed....

Hi Isabella, I am sorry to hear about Lucky. Is there something more your vet can do to help with her pain?

I can't tell you if it is time to let her go. But what I can tell you is that when Hollie became ill we somehow just knew it was time. We were able to see it in her eyes, it was as if she were telling us she didn't want to suffer any longer. So we made the decision to humanely end her suffering.

Hugs to you and Lucky n
My vet didn't want to use heavier narcotics, for whatever reason. I think there is too much of a backlash against them, but it may be that she was right -- said it would constipate her and make things worse. We did all we could and finally, in great reluctance, we let her go...
Love to all!

I am so sorry to hear about her passing. I know how very difficult that is. But know that she was very loved and cares for. You did everything possible to keep her comfortable. Now she is free on the other side of the bridge. Hugs.

Sorry to read about your loss.
Yes, it is so hard to lose these beloved dogs but when sorrow has become a wonderful memory after all these years, then it will be a little easier, but evil does it

-but it is our duty to free them to suffer unnecessarily - so you certainly did the right thing

Yes, Shelby’s mom comments mirrored my feelings as well.

You are so correct that animals are luckier than us when euthanasia is an option to end their suffering.

You are in our thoughts and prayers at this extremely difficult time.

14 years shows the outstanding efforts you went through ... no dog could expect more love, caring and compassion.
