LOST SHELTIE - RI - Update

Thanks to everyone who has shared Maggie's information. It's been shared more than 2,000 times on Facebook just from two pages. We are exploring some other avenues as well. Here's today's update from Susie, Maggie's owner:
Day 5 of Missing Maggie: I have reached out to WJAR Channel 10 in hopes that they will publicize Maggie's disappearance. I have been given the name of and "Animal communicator" who has located other pets in the past - will be following that lead. My husband is working to track down the other building sites for the SOB contractor so that we can visit them, hang posters and talk to the workers; I am working to make waterproof posters in different iterations so that they can be moved around and catch people's eye so they can be reminded that she is missing (not just an old poster); I am going to try and post different pictures on the site so that people can continue to share new and different stuff. The response is, and has been, profound. There is a HUGE dog show this weekend in Springfield MA and it is going to be publicized and flyers handed out there. She was STOLEN out of a fenced back yard - it is a crime against all of us!

Thanks for keeping us updated Ann!

I hope the news picks up on the story!

We ALL are praying for her safe return! Any sheltie owner is just sick to their stomach over this act of cruelty!

I hope whoever took her is prosecuted to the full extent of the law! Better yet, just return her to the yard they took her from!

Keep the pressure on ...

Think being a member of such an amazing group :hugs

Oh, I can hardly bear to think of poor Maggie and her family, it hurt so much in my heart.

Stealing a dog is so unspeakable evil to do.

This just reminds me that I really shouldn't take my eyes off my babies while they are in the fenced in backyard. It really is sad that (same with children) they can't just play outside and have fun without the worry that something might happen. I really pray that she is found.

Susie's post for today. Please keep praying!

  1. Missing Maggie - A Call to Action

Day 7 Missing Maggie! It will be week tonight that our Mags has been gone. It seems like/feels like forever. Thank you to all the warriors that were out yesterday spreading flyers around - and to those that are going to be doing more of that today and tomorrow. Please let me know if you can help. We (Carl and I) went over to the Peacedale/Wakefield area and publicized our loss. I walked into one convenience store on Rte 108 and the clerk had already seen the flyer on FB and shared it with her friends. Our system is getting the news out and that is reassuring. I was energized by her. One thing we did realize was that posting in pizza joints, convenience stores, gas stations and cafe type places potentially reaches a lot of people. Hearing that our pet was stolen from our fenced back yard hits people in their gut and they are happy to help any way they can - use that when you ask to post something. We had a call from a woman last night who had seen the flyer, had an idea and wanted to encourage us - it buoyed our spirits. Yesterday we put together a "press release" that went out to local news organizations since none of them had returned my calls. More durable posters are being made and going up. We spoke to the Animal Communicator from CA and we are going to be following some of her leads today. It was a VERY long day but keeping busy helps and I got to the point where I could tell people about Maggie without balling. That was helpful. Please know that all of your help and encouragement helps us tremendously - please send Maggie positive energy and encouragement as well - she knows she is "lost". If you have a lead please message us directly on FB so I see it quickly. Like Maggie's FB page: "Missing Maggie - A Call to Action". Everything can be shared from there.

Each day I hope your post will be good new for Maggie being found.

All I can do is pray! I wish I could do more.
I am just heartsick over her missing her family and the torment her family is enduring.
No one should have to go through this and I hope and pray for her safe reunion to her devoted family.

Week 2 Day 4! 2 things today: I will repost the flyer so people can access it easily. I am also going to ask everyone who is able/willing/positioned to do so for the following favor. Take a copy of the flyer and go to your local vet. Ask them to post the flyer. If for some reason you can't access the flyer you can still ask them their policy about the following: Ask them what prompts them to scan and animal for a chip. We need to push vets to scan for a chip EVERY TIME they take on a new patient in their practice. I was dismayed to find that my vet doesn't do much scanning - just inserting the microchips (makes money). If we could get vets to do this routinely, more dogs might be returned to their owners. Right now Maggie might act suspiciously at a vet, but a year from now she might not.
No other news to report but we are following leads and finding more and more ideas and help. Please keep Maggie and our search in your hearts.

This is so sad. Many of the vets around here don't scan for microchips either. I agree that it should be part of their new customer routine. I wonder if some of them just don't want to get involved in that type of situation so they just don't do it....

I no - Poor, poor Maggie and her family.
It is so awful that some can be so evil.

Now we can really understand the meaning of all puppies (in Denmark) shall have a chip before they are 8 weeks and that there is now only one register, and we can not come to the vet without the dog "passport" and they are scanned before examination
