lying on side for grooming?

I think I have the right type of comb - recommended by a groomer friend. I am in need of a new pin brush and I see endless discussions about what type is best...:confused2:. I really liked the one I had for Trace, but the brand name wore off the handle - not sure what it was.

Ugh! Last night was the first tarantula of the year (in the garage thank you) and tonight Melli BLOWS coat. Wow. I made a bi-black puppy from what I got off her. I hope this means early winter!

I have this old comb I got at a cat show in 1992 and it has served me well. It just says British on it. Handle is red, tines are black. I also have a super wide-tined comb and the tips are rounded on the tines and tines themselves are round. That is super. Then I have the undercoat rake, not a blade, just the rake style with short and long tines. That is THE best on the shorter double coats like the Maine Coon (not exactly double) but Melli or the Aussies. The pin is one without the tips and I really like the All Systems one. It was Amazon Prime and I gave it a review after I bought it. Nice brush. I do have a flea comb style which is great on ears, faces, and paws. I have never had luck with slickers. Too scratchy. I have a stiff bristle brush for the shepherd or can use the flea comb on him. His coat is the short cattle dog kind of coat. That's my arsenal.

Guess I will be hitting Melli hard this week since suddenly she is blowing coat in a major way. Wow. Wasn't expecting it this early -- or the tarantula for that matter.

Thanks for the comb & brush info. As far as the spider info: sorry - would have to move! That would just freak me out beyond repairable!!! I only have to worry about the boys eating rabbit poop, thank you very much!

Baker was just out for his last pee of the night so it's off to bed for me. Sweet Sheltie dreams everyone!:smile2:

When Piper was really young (16 weeks or so) I had no problem putting him on his side to groom but then he decided he didn't like that so it was a fight to get him on his side. Then I would hug him, get him on his side and hold him until he settled and now I have no problem doing it. Sometimes you have to win the battle or you'll lose the war haha (especially with a Sheltie )
