Miko's Health (updates and more)

As hard as it is to say goodbye, you are giving him a special gift. You are allowing him to go to the other side with you beside him. He will no longer be painful, confused or cold. It is something we can do for our beloved fur children. Thinking of you.

RIP Miko

Again, I wanted to thank everyone for your support and advice. I wrote up something in the Angel folder for Miko. Here's the link.

I have my good moments and my bad, which I'm sure is normal. I think it's time for me and Koji to go to bed....again. I crashed hard after it was done. But then again, I didn't sleep well, because Miko didn't sleep well.

I spoke with the animal communicator one last time in the morning. She said Miko really took a turn for the worse and that he's ready to go. I may have waited one day too long, since he did have a rough night, but I can live with that. I know he wasn't ready otherwise.

I did ask about me moving them to OR. Had to. I needed to know. She said Miko didn't mind, but was happy it was at the end of his life because he loved warm sunny SoCal. Koji said he likes the cooler weather because he's not so hot all the time. Guess I don't have to worry about him and the cold (y'know, the bootie thread, hehe).

After everything, I had written the animal communicator to just thank her for her help and to understand what they see/experience at the end, etc. She told me she keeps seeing a big smile on Miko's face and hoped that meant something to me. I just know I did the right thing, even if it hurts. And obviously he's pain free and happy again.

I think the hardest thing is walking around the house, knowing he's not here. Everything is in a specific spot because of Miko. Boxes in the hall, towels on the ground, puppy pads in the kitchen, even the kitchen mat was for him. I don't think I realized how much I adjusted things to accommodate him.

Could someone explain what an animal communicator is? Never heard of that before. From the context, I suppose it's some sort of pet psychic/psychologist/dog whisperer?

Cheryl, I'm so sorry to hear the most resent update on Miko. He lived a long wonderful life. Yes, his last few months weren't very good, but he was with the one he loves the most, you, so he was happy. I don't have many pictures of F-kap Sr or Sunny, and the ones I do have are old and not very good. But if I could, I would hang the best pictures up on the wall with a little tribute to them. What's your favoret picture of Miko? Pick the best picture how you want to see him today, how you think he looks there at the bridge. He looks so peaceful in his last picture with Koji. Maybe putting that one next to it. Hugs and lots of love sent you way.:hugs
