Missing from Nova Scotia, Bandit

I'm on the other side of the country, so I can't offer any help other than to say that I will wishing with all my heart that Bandit finds his way home safely or that someone finds him and he is returned to you.

I have had 2 cats go missing over the years (both returned home safely… one after 9 days and the other after 4 days) I know how awful those few days were and I feel for you that you're having to go through it.

yeahhhyy on the news of the sightings!! Thats good! It narrows down an area for you, and 2 is better than one!! I also have a Canadian dog who was tattooed as a puppy before leaving for the states, she will be 7 on Saturday and her tattoo is quite visible as well!!
 
I so hope that was Bandit that was sighted! Still praying for his safety and return home. Did you read the Christmas miracle story about the dog being found after 9 months. I think I read it on Kijiji. Maybe Bandit can be another miracle.:yes:
 
Hmm, so it seems like quite a few of the tattoo's do stay visable, that's very good news! I'm really hoping it was him, across from this Irving is a large field, and apparently someone feeds deer in there (I've heard there are a lot of deer in that particular area), and of course there would be mice & other rodents. And all over Falmouth there are so many old cars and sheds, a lot of places to hide. I have been following the NS Lost Dog Network very closely (they are amazing, I just love them!), and so I did hear about the one that came back after 9 months, they had NO positive sightings! I have had sightings, most 'possible', one positive, and almost all were in Falmouth, so we are really concentrating on that area, although will check out calls from any area.
 
Linda, keep the faith. I just heard the story last night at our Sheltie club Christmas party of a Sheltie who was found two years after going missing. She did everything possible not to be caught and was sighted frequently but no one could catch her. Shelties living on their own are wily creatures. She apparently lived in an old box truck which is where she was finally trapped. An hour after being found, she was back in her breeder's house like she'd never been gone. Now, a year later, she is doing agility and is friendly and outgoing with everyone.

It will happen with Bandit too. Don't give up!! :yes:
 
Yes, keep the faith. I wish I was closer and could help with the research. I keep my eyes open for found Shelties and always check back to Bandits picture to compare. I'll keep on sending positive thoughts for his safe return. I know it will happen, hopefully soon enough. Linda, continue demonstrating such faith and courage and he will come!
 
I am thinking and praying so much for Bandit and other lost/stray dogs that I am now dreaming about them. Any news? Didn't Walker also hang around Falmouth? Are any people leaving food out just in case or a trap? Not much else to say except keep on expecting a miracle.
 
I had read that story of that one that was gone so long, on this site actually, I think her name is Aspen? The NS Lost Dog Network actually sent me the link to that story (I was sobbing to them constantly, I think they wanted to give me some hope! It worked!), and that's how I found out about this site, I'd never heard of it before, and I love this site.
My daughter is now home, so the efforts to find Bandit will now be given an extra boost, so that's really good. I'm off work next week so she & I are going to spend a night in Falmouth, set the trap somewhere, drive around, sit in the car & watch, etc. Also going to spend a lot of daylight hours out there searching on foot again.
Some very good news here though, the two standard poodles that had gone missing (one on medication for seizures) were found today! After 8 days out there, they were found within a few hours of each other! Things come in 3's, that's two local dogs found, now it's Bandit's turn!
And yes, Walker was spotted in various areas in Falmouth, and I recently asked his mom if she could tell me where he was seen and in what order (someone here suggested that, thank you!), so she sent me a message on facebook with that. And it does seem like a lot of the areas are similar, so I'm thinking maybe Bandit is following the same kind of path as Walker.
 
After I read about Walker and did some research on the psychology of lost dogs and hearing Bandit and Walker actually ran off down the same road I thought it would be a good idea to retrace Walkers route because they say lost dogs follow the path of least resistance ex. Railroad, deer paths, hiking trails, fields, golf courses etc. I hope this info. can help you. You just never know? But both being shelties I figured they may think alike. I read about the poodles being found too. I think a sheltie has a better chance out in the woods than a poodle.

Yes, Linda, the story I heard was from Aspen's breeder. She is home now with her like she's never been gone. It does happen and I pray it does for you too. I'm glad your daughter will be home to help search. Keep the faith, Bandit is out there waiting for you.
