Missing from Nova Scotia, Bandit

Ahh, ok, I think that is the one that I had seen and replied to. They didn't have any more info than that. I work in Lower Sackville and had ended up taking that route home rather than the highway, but didn't see anything at all, even looked for torn up garbage. Sackville is about a 1/2 hour drive from my place, so he definitely could have gotten that far, it is a very busy, very heavily populated area, I think he would hate it and wouldn't stay there for very long. I have posters up close to there, in Mount Uniacke, but not in Sackville. Sackville Drive goes through Lower, Middle and Upper Sackville, when it reaches Mount Uniacke it becomes the #1 highway, which winds it's way past my house. The sightings I've had are in Falmouth, which is in the opposite direction, but then again, only one of them was sure, the rest were 'possible'. I'm hoping he is not in Sackville, there is a ton of traffic, but will still definitely be keeping my eye out going through that way!

It is. Thank you. Linda, I would contact animal control. I found another lost dog sighting with no description of the dog. But it was on the path between Durham Way and Driftwood Crescent it says Dartmouth/Cole Harbor area.

I wish animal control had called me as well, they have Bandit on file. I don't think they were able to find this dog, but still I feel they should have called so I could try. They aren't too bad...I guess...but lots of room for improvement, but the animal control officer in my area, wow. He's just terrible. Heard that we found Bandit, so closed the file without checking. He doesn't have an answering machine or anything, and is hardly ever in his office, so his secretary takes info for him, and he almost never calls back unless you repeatedly call him, then he calls back and is nasty and aggressive. Talked to the animal control officer in the Annapolis Valley area, she was fantastic. She said there is NO WAY my file will be closed unless she hears something from ME, and if she doesn't hear anything in a long time, she will not assume, she will call me for an update. She made a little offhand remark about the guy in my town, I think he's well known, and not in a good way.
 
How far is Dartmouth/Cole Harbor area? Could he have been there? It is strange that so many animal control officers are mean. My mom called them because she had an injured rabbit in her yard. By the time he got there the rabbit was next door. He started yelling at my mom that the rabbit had to be in her yard:eek2: my mom got so upset she started shaking. Is that the only shelter a stray dog is taken to?
 
Hi Linda. Did you ever read the story about Walker, the sheltie, who came home (got caught) after a winter on the run. It is eerie because it is the same area Bandit went missing. Walker went missing in 2008. Do a google search for Walkers story.
 
Dartmouth/Cole Harbour is about 45-60 minutes away from me, and is also very heavily populated, lots of people and vehicles, not an easy place to hide, I really can't see him going in that area, but you never know. I don't know, I don't understand these animal control officers, I would think they have that type of job because they care about animals, and most people who care about animals are very decent people, but...doesn't seem to be the case with these guys. It's very frustrating, our local guy left a very sharp, fairly nasty message on my mothers phone, she's 71 and feels so awful about all this. I was pretty p.o.'d. But the lady in the Annapolis Valley, she was fantastic, and I've heard stories about the lengths she's gone to in order to catch a 'stray'. Wish she was in my community instead of the jerk we are stuck with.

I have read about Walker, and in fact he ran from not only the same town, but the same ROAD as Bandit, was gone for 5 1/2 months, through 17 snows (not all storms, but still), and found in Falmouth. A lot of the sightings I'm getting are areas where Walker had been seen as well. The lady that owns him is now my facebook friend, we chat a lot, and I'd like to go visit her but my spare time is searching. And the lady that found and caught Walker is also now my facebook friend, and she has spent countless hours searching for Bandit! I have met her twice while searching.

And..really funny thing is..the exact same time Walker was missing, another sheltie in Nova Scotia (Yarmouth, that's near the south end, used to have a ferry service to Maine that was great, but our gov't axed that, not good), her name is LadyBelle, she went missing as well. She was gone for 7 months, her owner is also now my facebook friend (I think I'm collecting people! lol!), and her 'mom' said they got NO sightings for about 6 1/2 months! She finally contacted an animal communicator in Halifax, a few hours away, who 'saw' two shelties near golf courses. This person didn't even know Walker was missing, so was very confused. Anyway, not sure how things happened after that, but BOTH these shelties were found around the same time, BOTH by golf courses! It is something that I've never believed in, and if I was to be totally honest, I am still skeptical. BUT I am open to anything, and this was pretty amazing, so I have been in contact with this person as well. Haven't had any luck, but she's still trying as well.
