I started Ginny on it yesterday, but I'm not going to be able to continue with it. It costs over $80 per month which we can't afford, especially with Toby on medication too. That's shockingly expensive, especially considering my vet doesn't mark up medication. Had I realized just how expensive it was I might not have bothered since she's showing improvement.

Anyway, she'll be on it for the next two weeks so we'll see how she does. So far she seems a little more at ease.

Swanson vitamins sells Lactium/ Zylkene/ $19.99 for 60 caps, they also often have free shipping or other promo codes, well worth investigating. I am becoming quite a fan of this on line store.

I'll look into it but its not usually worth it to have it shipped to Canada. :(

How do you know that Lactium and Zylkene are the same thing? Not doubting you, I just wondered since the Zylkene bottle says nothing about Lactium.

If they are the same, the dose that Ginny gets is 150mg/day and the ones on the Swanson web site are 167 mg, so not sure what to do about that...

Never mind, looked into it myself. will see about shipping, but not holding my breath.

Lactium is US name, Europe is Zylkene, but it is same formula, also I have seen Finland selling it as Lactium. Since therapeutic range is so wide I have given Leo 14lbs 1 pill a day, but generally only on those days when we have something special like classes etc.
here is dosage for zylkene so it makes no difference 150 mg pill or 167mg
Zylkene 75mg
Up to 5kg (11lb)- 1 capsule a day
5-10kg (11-22lbs)- 2 capsules a day

Zylkene 225mg
10-20kg (22-44lb)- 1 capsule daily

Zylkene 450mg
20-40kg (44lb-88lb)- 1 capsule daily
over 40kg (88lbs)- 2 capsules daily
their Suntheanine is also cheaper for me to buy on line $6.89 for 60 pills

Thanks for the info but the shipping prices you're telling me don't apply to Canadian customers, we're considered international. Plus depending on the item, customs may charge duty. That's what they did when I bought flea/tick medication, not sure if it apply's to natural products though.

Good to know about the dosage, Ginny is 14 lbs. also, so she usually gets 150 mg/day. It seemed to me that 167mg couldn't hurt, since a 22lb. dog could get 150 or 225 mg.

Ginny does seem to be doing very well on it. Today is day 3 and she seems much more like her old self.

it seems they charge actual freight of $9 for your order of either 1 or 2 bottles. Providing customs do not put heavy duties you will have 4 months supply for $54.
BTW if anyone travels to Chicago area from your area I 'll be happy to get you some and let them "smuggle it" LOL

They told me that I should not have to pay duty, so the cost for a 4 month supply would be $59 with taxes and shipping (works out to $15/month), compared with the $80/month to buy it here! Talk about highway robbery! Not even my vets fault, they don't even mark up the prices!

I've been pleased with how it helps Ginny. Its done more for her anxiety than the xanax did without making her feel groggy.

It would be nice if I could eventually wean Toby off of the Reconcile and use this instead.
 
Hmm can anyone provid eme with the direct link to the product? I am trying to find the Zylkene 225 to order...
