I've had 4 girl Shelties and a girl Poodle in my life and they've all been different but wonderful. I just love the girls for some reason. Ally can be really goofy sometimes so not always just a boy characteristic. I say Gem has chosen you also. If you like her, don't worry about her sex. Fingers crossed it works out, Barb.

What about the Pom? Did you go see her as well?

Last year I lost my cat, Tiger (if you saw him you would understand the name) to a car racing down the street. I was devastated. He was only about 5 years old. But after a couple of months, I decided to go back to that same pound, and get another cat. Then I found my Missy girl. She really does resemble him, in size, structure, and coat. While looking for a kitten, I also ended up, adopting a cat that was 12 years old, with epilepsy that they thought was going to be put down. Now I will never forget him, but Chealsey and Missy did help me heal. He is still in my heart, but it always helps to take your mind of things, and cuddle something. Good luck Barb, and please, get a sheltie.:wink2:

It sounds like this girl has already chosen you....
I think we are all waiting to hear what you decide :D
we love hearing about new homes for doggies :D

Melli has a couple quirks but she is a really amazing dog. Both my girls have been more like best friends and equals and the boy more like children. The more I work with Melli the more I respect her.

I hope you said yes.

I got Lucky in 2001, and he is a good boy, sweet and not the alph type. I got Lady in 2005, she was 12 weeks old when I got her.

It just so happened she melted me, and way down deep I wanted a girl. Just me, I had fear if I brought a male in he would be the Alpha. Lady just thinks she is the Royal Highness, but that is with me not Lucky.

They really do get along great. Were you taking Indy along to get his ok?

I love my girls. Yes they are opinionated and have a mind of their own, but they can out think my boys 20:1. I have found though that my boys love the girls and will dote on them endlessly, or until my girls have had enough of them:lol:

Barb, I have three girls and one boy. Each is so different! Bitsy expresses love through her ball. Annie is a lovey little bunch of jealous brown fur who will stand by you when you're sick. Layla is like having Queen Elizabeth for your BFF -- dignity in public, loads of fun in private!! And Colonel Underpants -- oh, my loveable Big Guy!

My opinion: Get the little girl. She shouldn't cost over $950 US -- that's reasonable. If she does, ask for a discount. But get her anyway. Indy will worship her.

I have Casey the boy and four girls. Tara and Casey have the EXACT same personality. Sweet, loving, and goofy. Annabelle and Clarabelle have the exact same personality. Sweet loving, FIESTY. So, I really can't feel comfortable saying, "Boys are this way, girls are this way." Each is an individual. It sounds like Gem really likes you quite a bit.
