Not a good day.....

So glad to hear that all went well with Indy and that he seems to be feeling well. However, I'm gun shy regarding sutures, as you may recall, given that Snap had a problem with his following his neutering and had to go in for a second surgery four days later. So please remind Indy not to overdo it.

It's not at all unusual for Indy not to poo today, Barb. Most of mine don't go for at least the day after surgery. And don't be surprised if when he does go, it doesn't look normal at first. If you're concerned though, you can put a spoon of canned pumpkin in his food. I've found that works as well for constipation as it does for diarrhea.

I'm so pleased....! He went poo when I came home from work today. The texture seemed fine (:rolleyes2::lol:), so I think he's over that hurdle. (I'm so embarrassed though - people at work were asking me how Indy was doing, and I instantly starting talking "poo talk"!

But he's still twitchy about his backend....but I can't tell if its his tail that's bugging him or his butt. Sometimes, he seems to be going for his feet! And where they shaved his front leg for the intravenous is looking a little raw.

If it doesn't seem better tomorrow, I'll probably have to take him in.

Indy's eating well, and poo schedule just about back to normal.

(Although everytime he has go down the stairs, he looks at me with a look as if to say "Are you nuts, woman?". Except, of course, when its breakfast time. Suddenly he seems to be very spry, indeed!)

But the "twitchy" behaviour is still going on. He'll be perfectly fine, then suddenly he'll twitch, drop to the floor and give his back feet a few licks or chews. Then he's fine again. The way he twitches is almost like someone gave him an electric shock!

So, I was discussing this with a co-worker today, and she said the same thing happened to her cat after surgery. Something about nerve endings getting disrupted, but it will go away in a week or so. Anybody ever heard of this before? Looking to our favourite "vets online" here! :smile2:

If the vet did an incision through the skin, nerves would have been cut and it does take time for nerves to heal. Speaking from a people standpoint, I get questions about "pins and needles" around the incision and sometimes women who have had a lumpectomy with lymph nodes taken out from the arm pit area will mention tingling down the arm. I would imagine that dogs would have a similar reaction - they just can't tell us.

Not sure about canines, but I had this very thing happen after a knee surgery.Very annoying actually. My orthopedic doctor in NY told me it was because of the nerves were disrupted, and that it would resolve itself.

It did for the most part.Although on my right knee, the right side I am still numb in a small area.
I've had surgeries on both knees from skiing mishaps.

His twitchy behaviour finally stopped and he is mending well. Something to make note of in the forum....funny twitchy, nervy behaviour seems to be normal after this kind of surgery.

He goes tomorrow to get his staples removed, but I'm a little concerned that every night he vomits up bile. He's eating fine and his poop is regular and constant. Just the bile thing at night.

Not sure what to make of this.

And then Thursday final packing and finally Friday the big move. Can't wait till its done. I've had a constant stress headache for two weeks. I've tried red wine and its not working!:razz::lol:
