Can you just have her sit when the other dogs get too 'friendly' ? That way her butt is not in their face. Maybe that will diffuse the situation.

Seriously. My landlords old spayed rescue bitch was the BEST THING EVER to dogs of all ages and genders.

Well not to brag, but Honey's butt is pretty fluffy. I can see why it'd draw the other dogs attention.

I've had her do that before, but being that she stiffens up the longer the dogs are back there, she's not always comfortable enough to do so. I could try having her sit when greeting other dogs..., but that wouldn't solve much in a playing situation.

The funny thing is, with my moms dog, Bailey, he uses sniffing to initiate play. But he's actually a little more submissive than Honey, which is usually not the case with other dogs. They don't care if the others takes the toy, or the bone, or eats the food, because playing with each other is more interesting.

I will try the tennis racket, and watch some video's that show other dogs correcting behavior in an acceptable manner. I always get so nervous letting any growls and snaps happen.

I never let dogs sniff under my dogs. I will move my dog away or ask the other owner to move their dog. There are just too many infections that can be passed, the worst being brucellosis. I try be nonchalant about moving my dog away, but if the other owner acts offended, I explain that I am just not comfortable with the sniffing of my bitches.
At dog shows, the etiquette is, keep your dog under control and never let it sniff another dog.
If the owner says "He is just saying hello", my answer is teach him to wave!

I thought it was great as well...I agree with the other comment about infections and diseases...if you can't/won't control your dog, I immediately think whatelse are you not doing for your pet, ya know?
