Now Theo is having issues....

Thanks again, everyone. I've been put in contact with veterinarian neurologist and expert on cerebellar and movement disorders, Dr. Olby. She's at North Carolina University, but I had e-mailed another vet and he put me in contact with her. She has quite an impressive resume, so if anyone can get to the bottom of it, I'd think she could.

Whatever my puppies have they are normal most days and I'm just thankful for that. :)

Your kind words mean so much to us and many thanks!

You are so lucky to have a vet that is so willing to help you figure this out. Any idea on why just these two and not all of the puppies? I am so sorry this is happeing after all you have been through with Hadley. You are a great mom and I know you will get the answers needed. Will keep you in my prayers.

I am so thankful to be so lucky. My vet is just puzzled by this and his scientific mind isn't going to be at ease until he gets to the bottom of it. I would think the others could still develop whatever it is since Theo's just started a month ago. I'm glad it's mine in a way b/c two of the other owners have a lot of other animals and children and probably wouldn't have as much time to devote getting to the bottom of it and one is an older, retired couple who also probably isn't in the best position to deal with a sick puppy.

At least my Hadley girl is healthy now. knock on wood!! lol

I have just read this thread and my heart goes out to you and the poor pups too, especially sweet Theo, who I've always had a soft spot for. It sounds as if you have a great vet and some excellent suggestions have been made here too. I was thinking along the same lines as Dawn, shelties can be sensitive to many of the products used in worming/flea treatement:

But it sounds like you have eliminated anything likely from this list, after Lily's incidents began, so I'm stuck for any other sugestions.

I looked at the links you posted and I hope it isn't that, but I think it is unfortunatly a distinct possibility that the vaccination done when Hadly was pregnant could be the culprit.

I will keep you and the pups in my thoughts and prayers. I'm glad Hadley is better now at least.

Yes, I was convinced in the beginning it had something to do with either shots, flea/heart worm medicine, or an ingredient in processed food. I eliminated all those for many months... Lily hadn't had flea treatment since November and Theo did continue to have it but never had any negative side effects. They all stopped taking heart worm medicine from November until last month. They hadn't eaten anything processed, even treats, since January. They did have an Easter Basket though. hehehe.

I just think with it affecting both of them that it's likely something that happened in utero. I just wish I had known Hadley was pregnant... sigh...

Here's a picture of the lovely babies saying thank youvall your good luck thoughts and prayers~

They are darling babies. My heart goes out to you and you all are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry you are going through such a difficult time. :(

Such cuties!!! I hope you get some answers soon! I know how you feel. I'm still trying to figure out what is wrong with my girl Rasha..... blood work full panel is next for her!

Sadly, the breeder isn't an option. We adpoted Hadley (sheltie, who is the mom) off craig's list and were totally scammed. She was supposed to be spayed when we got her... not only was she not spayed she was pregnant! And it turns out the lady has over 20+ dogs and is a dog flipper/BYB .... I would love to track down the dad of the puppies, but we're not sure what breed the dad is even. Although, I highly suspect poodle. There is a neurologist in NC who specializes in cerebellar and movement disorders and she's looking into Hadley's background, all the medicine she received when she was pregnant, and also into the puppies history and looking at many videos we have. I never thought it would be this bad. :( At least we have an amazing vet who hasn't charged us anything and is really interested in finding out what's wrong. Although we will most likely have to go to specialist if we want a sound answer, it's still nice having people be so kind. I truly appreciate it.

Oh my now I remember the background on Hadley, and gosh now this with your little ones. That is a super vet, compassionate. I just pray you get an answer, horrible situation for you and the pups.

That is a great video to show the vet exactly what is going on, good thinking mom, and the pups should be so happy they have you. That BYB should have all those dogs taken away from her. I sometimes wonder what is wrong with people?

Tomorrow Theo is going into the vet to get a bile acids test and some more invasive blood work to make sure all his organs are functioning properly. These won't be free but they must be done. My vet is talking with the State Hospital and seeing what they're going to require test-wise and having me do them there at his vet since it's more affordable. If it turns out to be neurological, which we'll have more of an idea after we get the results of the test, we will have to evaluate how much money we would be able to put into getting an answer. I think if it's neurological, there probably won't be many treatment options so it would be more just finding out what it is, and at a pretty penny! I just hope whatever it is, it doesn't progress and they are only affected a small amount of the time. After reading just how bad live vaccines are for pregnant bitches, and also the antiobiotics and the heart worm medicine and the ear medicine she was taking, I'm amazed they all came out alive and as healthy as they did. Very lucky.

Thanks again, everyone. Will let you know what the results our when I get them next week.

Oh, we're also ordering the DNA test tonight! Eeeek! I'm excited. I'm betting miniature poodle and possibly something else!
