Oopsie! Training treats possibly causing

I agree with Dr. Shelli. Some blood work would be in order here to see what is going off.
I also don't believe in withholding water - it is available all the time here even while I housebreak. As the good doctor told me when I was trying to stop the bedwetting my one kid was doing, "how do you expect him to wake up to a full bladder if he never feels it or has to hold it?"

Purina Puppy Chow in my opinion is not a very good food at all.

Also, dogs should have access to water at all times.

I would definitely pursue this. Something is not right. Although, if you are training with hot dogs, that has way way way too much salt for a puppy. That could be causing some problems. In any event, please follow through with this.

I'm not withholding water, when she looks for her bowl I give her water. When she is older and can let me know when she wants out, I will keep her water bowl down for her just like the other dogs get.

I agree with the others. There are other possible causes of excessive drinking, and additional testing is called for.

I'm sorry? She doesn't drink excessively - too much water isn't the problem here.

Also I don't think freaking out and running a bunch of tests right away is necessary - we'll see how she does without the treats and if it doesn't get better then my vet and I will see what the next best thing to do is.

Hotdogs were suggested in the training section of this forum as a training treat when I taught her how to sit. I only used it the once and she overall had less than half a hotdog.

Try a soup ladle, large serving spoon, shallow plastic dish. I have all three set aside just for the dogs and nothing else. Tip: Practice, practice, practice. Every time she goes to go out, stick it under her so she gets used to it.

LOL my husband said he would pay good money to watch me follow her around with a bowl under her butt  I will definitely get something to put under her while she pees (or will try to lol), I was hoping there was an easier way

After reading a bit more on diluted urine in puppies, I certainly do not want her to get dehydrated - I know it means cleaning up after her more often, but for the times she's in the room and not in her crate, I will leave her water bowl down =)

When Natalie had her suspected bladder infection/open pyometra, she was wetting much more than normal, usually on my bed.

Hope they can tell you what it wrong with Skyla. Which one of you managed to get the sample?
