It is very hard to rationalize the behavior of the "rescue" (I hesitate to use the word because it is so far from legitimate rescue behavior) other than to assume that the purpose of kidnapping Piper was solely because Veronica is a breeder, and in the mind of this person and her followers, breeders are the devil. According to them, there are no good breeders. Only rescue is worthwhile. It's the new militant mindset of some rescue people that is really dangerous, and this case is proof of that. Since their legal costs have been financed by the AR organizations, this theory certainly appears to make sense.
The shame of all this is the damage that's been done to real rescues, and the dogs that need their help. Mom2Melli said it well in describing how uneasy she would feel about taking a dog whose history is unknown. I'm afraid many people will feel that way because of this woman's irrational actions.
And now, the appeal is scheduled for August 27. As if Veronica and Piper haven't had enough.
I still do NOT understand HOW a rescue or any person, place, etc., can TAKE a pet from their owner, when the owner proved that the pet BELONGED to them, and was not an abused, neglected animal. So they can "rescue" any dog from a breeder just because they do not care for the breeding industry. That is illogical to me, hard to process, but I am the first to admit, much of what goes on these days is just plain crazy with the morals, standards, nonadherence to laws or principles. Why would ANY judge allow this to continue. Enough already...
