Julie, I am glad that you finally got a diagnosis and can make Maggie as comfortable as possible. Sheltie hugs and kisses for Maggie.

Thank you all so much for kind words and prayers. Maggie seems comfortable today. We need to feed her eggs as they have the most amino acids that can replace what the liver can't extract. She doesn't want to drink even water with broth so we'll be watching her to make sure she doesn't suffer.

Thank you all once more. She has been a little angel dog for 10 years and I can't picture life without her.

I am so sorry to hear this! We lost our 12 year old Sheltie in October to kidney disease, and each time I read a post here with bad news, I feel so sad. I hope that she will improve with additional amino acids, and at least be as comfortable and happy as she can be for as long as possible. Hugs to you both!

Julie - was hoping for a much better diagnosis. I am SO sorry. It's so incredibly hard to watch them deteriorate. Just do what you can to enjoy the time with her. Sending good thoughts and wishes to you and Maggie too.

Sharon

My heart is breaking for you. I am so sorry that you all are going through this. I will keep you in my thoughts. I am glad that you have a diagnosis in which you can keep her on a diet that will make her the most comfortable. Big hugs.

I will continue to keep MaggieMae in my prayers. Please give her a big hug from me. Thanks. (also, please continue to update us)

Maggie has improved a little with an egg diet. Just as the doctor said, eggs have the best amino acids for her. She is just a bit stronger - although she still won't drink and won't eat her favorite foods - carrots, beans and lettuce. We're keeping her as comfortable as possible - she is right here with me as always.

Thanks for the update. My heart continues to go out to both you and Maggie.

Maggie somehow seems used to living in an e-collar. The minute it's off she wants to bite her feet, so it's kind of a permanent feature. She's such a good dog - if we want her to wear it, then she's going to wear it.

Can you believe both she and Fillie got an intestinal flu? Maggie always barks to go out, so we didn't have any trouble inside, but Fillie used the dining room twice before we decided she needs to live in the laundry room for awhile. Our vet checked both of them out yesterday - he made sure Fillie doesn't have a blockage. I do have a question - we have all kinds of yellowish spots on the carpet - we don't want to have it cleaned until we're sure this is over. Has anyone had any success with removing yellowish vomit and diarrhea spots from carpet? TIA
