Prayers for Logan please...

Gloria, I am so sorry to hear about Logan. I am sorry I can’t offer any diet suggestions. I just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you and praying for you and Logan

How much can one Sheltie and his mom bear? Good thing he is a fighter, his mom loves him so very much, and the thoughts and prayers of The Sheltie Nation to back him up. Get well soon Logan!!

I feel so selfish and petty for worrying about Gavin's completely minimal in comparison struggles. And for worrying about leaving him with a friend for 3 weeks while I go on vacation.

I keep checking back to see if there any updates..Logan needs to get better so he can go home to his Mom!

Thank you, everyone, for your heartful prayers and good wishes for Logan that he will rally and be able to come home to me today.
Fingers, arms, legs, toes, paws crossed that he will be able to come home today.

I need him with me...

Oh man, Gloria, what a difficult time you and Logan are having! :( Yes, Ally had both kidney disease and chronic pancreatitis. I just did not have it in me to try and cook meals for her, so I ended up mixing Royal Canin canned food, kidney and pancreas. She didn't like any of it, so we had to place fingerfuls of it in her mouth and gently hold her mouth closed until she swallowed. I was conflicted about doing that but she didn't struggle, so we kept that up for months. Her weight stabilized and her energy level was still quite good, so we felt it was worth it. If the pancreas is an acute thing, you may have to feed for that diet until he's over it, then switch to kidney diet. The fluids is what made the difference for Ally's comfort. I'm sure your vet will advise you on this.

Keeping you and Logan in my heart and hoping for the best. Your vet's optimism is a good sign for sure.

I am not sure if I ever mentioned it before but Logan also has a heart murmur! The vet said he did not want to give him any more fluids since it could compromise his heart. Geez, how much can one little dog take!

On a happier note, I just came back from the vet as he allowed me to take Logan home. They hand fed him 1/2 can of K/D food this morning... HUGE progress since he did not eat anything yesterday!!! Since he ate and his numbers are better, due to the fluids, he could come home! I am so pleased...

I was so heartwarming to see how concerned Beau was about Logan! None of these pictures were staged... Beau did it all on his own to comfort Logan and to welcome him home! I wanted to share these touching pictures with everyone who has been so kind and concerned for us!

Logan is now resting on the tile in the bathroom and is sound asleep! He is exhausted. Before he retired to the bathroom I hand fed him another 1/2 can of food!
If I have to feed him by hand for the rest of his life... so be it! He means that much to me!

Once again, I have to thank all of you, from the bottom of my heart! All of you wonderful and caring Sheltie Nation members are just the best!
I surely don't know what I would have done without your support! Your prayers brought my dear boy back to me!

Oh, Sharon, I had no idea it was that bad for Ally! Having both illnesses is just the worst. Thanks for letting me know hand feeding worked for you too! You are so right, fluids made the difference!

I am absolutely over the moon happy to see this!!!!!!!!! I have tears of joy in my eyes! So thrilled that he is back home where he belongs and is feeling so much better!!!!!

WONDERFUL news, Gloria!! And the pictures are precious. And he's eating too, yay!! Thanks for the update, made my afternoon! :biggrin2:

My heart just leaped to see the post and the heart-warming photos! Beyond precious, the two boys together. Beau is a great care-taker of his brother Logan. Thanks so much for posting the photos and I'm just so happy Logan is home in your loving care!
