Prayers for Logan please...

Well, Logan woke me up this morning wanting to go out and potty. He looked bright and chipper too. Acting like he was starving... gave him his breakfast and he walked away. Normally, I would open up 4 or 5 cans of food to try to get him to eat. It would totally stress me out!
Now I just put his food up until he wants it!

This whole situation has been such a steep learning curve and an excercize in patients. Slow and steady...

Not my strongest attribute but I am learning!

I remember this as my biggest frustration also. I'd feel like going outside and screaming just to let off steam. Really hard to give up control, but you are wise to just go with what he wants at this point, Gloria. It sounds like he feels tons better.

We had a horrible setback this morning.

Logan was fine when I let everyone out this morning. Then I noticed that Logan could not use his back leg when he came back in and it looked paralyzed! He was just frantic... I thought he was dying... he was panting so hard and tried to walk and get up but he just kept falling over.

Rushed him to the vet. The vet ran a test to determine he had a blood clot in his rear leg. He used a glucose meter and took a sample from the front healthy leg and then the compromised leg. The difference was the front leg registered 117 and the rear registered 60. The leg also felt colder. He is at the vet now on SubQ fluids, pain meds, and Asprin to hopefully thin the blood enough to release the clot. The vet suggested giving him 24 to 48 hours.

I am not very hopeful at this point. If he can not walk it is time to say goodbye and I feel his time is growing near. He is just dealing with so many health issues.

Gloria - at this point, I can only offer prayers and good thoughts, keeping you and dear Logan in my heart. You and he have had so much thrown at you. I'm very, very sorry. :hugs

Thank you, Sharon.

The vet just called. Logan's breathing is getting worse and he is not responding to anything they are trying to do to save him.
He asked me to come up now to perform euthanasia. He fought so hard. I don't want his last memories to be without us by his side.
If he passed away overnight at the vet, I would never forgive myself.

Beyond crushed...
