I know my record is poor
Sca was supposed to be a dark eyed Blue Merle, he was supposed to be a maniac and while he could be he was also a gentle soul and WAY proper in attitude
Spitfire was going to be a Bi-Blue, Sca was so good and I wanted a little guy for flyball. While Spitfire is well Spitfire.
Angus was kind of no choice but I finally got a blue merle, I did want a buddy for Spitfire as item #1 so I guess I am slowly getting dialed in.

Next up will be a 12" BiBlue ROCKET and all time flyball champion......or not

Oh and Cranberry softened me up he is cool, then you got he possum.....

Oberon also needs to lose weight -- at his last checkup he was almost 50 pounds! Vet would like him to get down to 40 over the next couple of years. We've gone from 1/2 cup of food twice a day to 1/3 cup twice a day, fewer treats (we're both really bad at giving them -- Lee usually throws a handful, now is only giving one), and less "people food" (although still some). To avoid the "I'm so hungry, why are you starving me? Death is imminent" looks, he also gets a small handful of green beans with each meal; the bulk seems to satisfy him with far fewer calories. Don't know how much he is now but he definitely looks less pudgy.

Oberon also needs to lose weight -- at his last checkup he was almost 50 pounds! Vet would like him to get down to 40 over the next couple of years. We've gone from 1/2 cup of food twice a day to 1/3 cup twice a day, fewer treats (we're both really bad at giving them -- Lee usually throws a handful, now is only giving one), and less "people food" (although still some). To avoid the "I'm so hungry, why are you starving me? Death is imminent" looks, he also gets a small handful of green beans with each meal; the bulk seems to satisfy him with far fewer calories. Don't know how much he is now but he definitely looks less pudgy.

My bet is he could go below 40lbs. My experience is vets let Shelties stay too fat. I don't know if it is the hair or what but Sca was his best at 29 for racing, as a family dog 30. Yet at 31 the vet was skeptical of him losing. She did agree on fat dog though

Destin probably would be good at flyball- he does like tennis balls.
but he also likes agility and rally and just got him started in obedience- pretty much anything that he can get cookies for

Yep that was Sca, you have food? who do I kill? Spitfire had no week point as food was interesting but only so much. Angus is all about getting petted and food so he is easy.....except for the attention span of a 6 month old puppy.

Yeah, most likely he would be better at 30-35, but we'll aim for 40 first. Since he isn't complaining about the lower amount of food, we'll keep him here for a while and then maybe lower it even more.

Piper still needs to lose a couple, helps that they dont get any carbs. I swear he'd weigh 30 pounds if he ate kibble!
Angus sounds like Finnie...while Piper would gladly do anything for food Finnie gets so over the top excited when he wants his supper or treat and the barking...OMG...its enough to shatter eardrums! Such a higher pitch than Piper.
Did a quick run to store today and took Finnie (-6 C outside, not too cold in car for him) and when I came out he was barking and jumping at the window at a couple that were walking by. The lady stopped and waved at him, her hubby looked at her funny and she said 'it's a Sheltie' as if her hubby was stupid or something.
Oh, and I bought the dogs their Christmas treat...a whole turkey! They wont get it all at once lol but its their treat. People look at me funny when I say its for the dogs lol.

Our original vet semi-retired and we had concerns about finding another good vet but, fortunately for us, Willow loves the lady doc who replaced him. In fact, Willow loves the whole office as they all come out to fuss over her whenever she has to go in for her annual checkup.

Willow's weight was creeping up a bit so now we give her two-thirds of what the package says to feed, split between her mealtimes and give the other third as kibble rewards for good behavior or her being responsive to requests. If she wasn't walking five miles a day with me, she'd be a blimp eating as much as the package says to give her. I would be too if it wasn't for those walks.

WOW! 5 miles!!! I am more like 3! Guess I have to up my game!

Do you just buy a turkey breast or the whole turkey? Are you just baking it in the oven for them?
I was planning on dehydrating the pork loins again today. Wow... they just LOVE THEM!

Funny story, when I had my 20 year old Persian cat, before my shelties...
I would go to the local butcher and always ask for his cubed stew meat. I would get 1/4 pound at a time. He finally asked one day, what are you doing with so little? I responded that I cut it into small pieces for my cat. He looked horrified and said, what do eat? Alpo? (a dog food from years ago)

I bet today, many folks are asking their butches for meats for their pets, and no one finds it strange!
