swift current SK had no hotel rooms.
clerk had no idea why...so we drove another hour plus
we stayed just outside of moosejaw...hotel is almost empty.

Oh no lol…nothing worse that having to take the dog out in the middle of the night when staying in a hotel/motel. Some of them are sketchy!

that was only one night. he's been good until at least 6 since then.
tonite is Winnipeg. ANOTHER highway through a city closed down and stuck in traffic
Portland, Calgary, and Winnipeg!
Pico was a hit at the hotel. several of the guests were thrilled to play with him, as well as the clerk.
tomorrow is on a river in thunder bay area. we will stop for a hike around 11AM, and then once we check in we can hike around there.

so today was thunder bay ONT to cedar rapids.
I got pulled over for speeding about 90 minutes from destination.
nice Iowa cop let me off with a warning to use cruise control (75 in a 65...lonely highway) and when I said I didn't think I'd make it to planned destination (getting dark and threatening out) he pointed me to good town to stay in (Iowa falls..college town). So I am learning how to use the cruise control on my car (never used it..as car is only 15 months old and I was gone for a good bit of that). has this nifty feature where it slows down if there is a car in front of me and I can pick the distance.
Pico slept through the whole thing.

Phew, nice cop indeed. I don't actually know how to use my cruise control either, LOL. Really funny that Pico slept through that though!

I know.....
I was expecting to get a ticket. it was only $100 (I didn't tell him that was nothing compared to CA tickets).
I think when I told him I was coming from thunder bay ONT and was looking for a place to stay short of intended destination 90 min away he felt sorry for me.

Don't depend on the auto slowdown. I don't trust those. Do give Pico a pet from us though.
