Rally Training

What giving him a treat that takes a little longer to chew, so while you are walking around him, he'll be too busy eating his treat?

Unfortunately, when I give him a treat, he'll immediately stand up. Not sure why. But he does. So that doesn't work. I'll try the touching and the other way someone suggested and my agility way. One of them has got to work.

When we were proofing Lexi's table, we started putting the treat close to her. If she moved, she didn't get it. Try that. We can now put the treat over her nose, and she won't reach for it. Then she gets it.

I promise I'm not trying to be difficult. ;)
With Miko, seriously, it's once it's in his mouth and he starts chewing, the butt comes up off the ground. I don't know why. I will click, he'll wait. He doesn't really reach for food (he's very gentle, to the point of having to shove the treat in his mouth at times). I could try pulling the food OUT of his mouth. lol. Ugh. I swear, not trying to be difficult, but yeah, see why he was driving me crazy the other day.

There are some things I absolutely love about him though. One is that he won't rip off your fingers to get food.

Sooo embarrassed

I am so embarrassed. Got an email from the trial secretary. It seems I added up the fees incorrectly and owe $12. :o I have never done that before. Gawd I feel incompetent. And to add to that, she asks me, "what class are you in?" :eek2: I forgot to fill that in too? I'm like, Novice A please (in the smallest voice you can muster in email).

Oh jeez. I hope that doesn't set the stage for my trial.

On the downside, Miko got the weekend off. I was at a trial and I was going to work with him on the grass, however, I didn't do it. 1 it was hot and 2. I was so dang busy. Bleah. So back to work tonight. I'm going to take him outside to work with him and have a training class scheduled for Friday. The trainer should be happy with his progress. :)

wow, what a journey!
Good luck!
My trainer is adamant to only train 5 to 10 minutes at a time and end at a positive note, to do it in intervals so their poor little brains don't get fried
LOL
I really have to stop myself all the time... then I am like ok ok.. let's go have a cuppa tea before we continue lol

I think my problem is that I'm used to training Koji for agility. We train for an hour at class. At home, I train him until his food is gone. Could take 30 mins or 10. So, poor Miko, I probably fried his brain. But yes doing the 5-10 mins at a time and giving him jackpots. He probably likes that.

I don't know why but it seems to me that they make those premium books so hard to understand, I have yet to get it right.. I always get a call afterwards with a correction ammount :)

Don't feel bad. I've done that and had to pay more. You would think since I have enter 200+ shows I would know how to do it. So I get to my last agility show with Ember and my number isn't there. Go see the show secretary. Argh! not again. But his time I overpaid by 5 dollar and got a refund. :rolleyes2: Also one time I forgot to put Justice's UKC number on the form. I needed to look it up and forgot. I know the AKC #'s by heart. At least you are in Rally Novice A. I was in Utility B and Open B and my dog had his UOCH. I'm supposed to know better. I need serious help.
