Rally Training

Back to training. Dec 10 is his next trial (and hopefully his last). I was surprised, we were doing some training and he was spot on. Better than ever! Granted, still working on the same things, but he seems to sit when I go around him now. Wow! and his front left AND right's are awesome. He's still pulling away during heeling, but it's not bad.

This is a much bigger trial than the last one, so I hope we won't be there that long. We'll probably be last again, lol. Hopefully they'll send a judging schedule next week along with a confirmation of sorts.

If we Q, this gets his RN. I was trying to do some work off-lead and he's just not as motivated to move or go where I want him to. So, I'm thinking the next level will be a lot harder and a lot more training. I just wanted him to share in his brother's glory of titles (beyond the CGC non-title), so I'll probably stop after this. I mean, he's 12. Let's be real, he doesn't want to do this, he just wants his dinner (I train using his dinner).

I think I"ll just do it every so often though (train, not trial), so he has something to "work" for and feel like I'm not jipping him when I'm working with Koji all the time. ;)

Thanks for sharing my journey through Rally-O. It's a lot of fun, but boy, those Excellent people are WAY out of my abilities. LOL.

haven't been to this thread since the obedience day- the rally day was interesting and I've forgotten tons already. One thing that was suggested was that when you retry the station- say that so the judge knows that is what you are doing. The instructor also said someone she knows reads each sign out loud as the team approaches and then does the sign. I love that idea and will try it next time we compete. The instructor also said that we shouldn't be in a hurry to move up to Advanced after we get our RN titles and should spend a little more time in Novice B. I know now that Callie wasn't ready to go offleash in Advanced so we may try that too.
Anyway - Good Luck on your next rally leg

Miko's (last?) Rally Trial is Friday

Haha! I'm freaking out now. I'm not nervous about the Rally, so much as there will be 1234 dogs at the show this Friday. One thousand, two hundred, and thirty-four dogs!!!! Koji is soooooo going to daycare. No way would he NOT react to the NINE rings (in one building - the othe 3 are elsewhere).

Granted, there's only 66 in Rally total, 6 in my class (nov A). I think I'm just freaking out at the sheer size of this. Wow! I don't even know what to do.

It's indoors, I'm assuming I can set-up some chairs, right? It said something about no bleachers. It also says no soft-sided crates, darn, that means I have to drag the big one in.

What do you guys think? Do you think the crate will help Miko be calmer? With so many dogs in the place and all that stuff going on? I know I'd feel better in a crate.

If it doesn't conflict (which I think it might), I'm going to go watch the Shelties in conformation. Is the etiquette to leave my dog in the crate? Honestly, I'm not sure if I want to leave poor Miko alone. With that many dogs, I honestly can't say if it'd freak him out. It's freaking ME out.

LOL. Oh well, relax, relax. Time to some training. Miko's been doing great with his training btw. I decided not to try the Advanced stuff (y'know, the rest of the signs). I think we'll be ending our career here. I'm so proud of him! Maybe I should have found a smaller venue.

The only part I can answer is this part :) I know that I'd rather not leave my dogs unattended if I can help it. When we went to a conformation show, our breeder was upset that we didn't bring the dogs. So, we showed up the next day with both dogs and no one even looked twice at us. I think as long as your dogs are well behaved, and not in the way, no one is going to freak out about it.

Trust me, it'll only be Miko. :) I don't want to tire him out, but from what my trainer said, I'll probably be done by 12:45pm (not the group, just me).

Whoa. Freaking out more. I think I'll be the first novice dog. How do they figure out who goes when? My number is R25. R25 starts off the Novice group numbering. :eek2:

How do they figure out this numbering? This is weird.
6 Nov A, 6 Nov B, but our numbers go R25-R26, then jumps to R30-R39. Weird.

And now my trainer may show up.....oh the pressure. lol. Just kidding, I'm not worried about her watching.

Yep you are the first dog.:smile2: Don't know why they number like that either.

:dead: Yup, that sums it up.

Oh, my trainer said another one of her students will be competing against me, she's so conflicted. LOL. But it's her first time ever. I can't wait to meet her and her St. Bernard!!! I've never met one in person, so I really would love to see one up close. Maybe getting 2nd place. lol. j/k.
