Rehab for Sketchie :)

Really upbeat news about Sketchie! Glad he's making such good progress and that you were wise enough to back off and give him a rest when he needed it. He is such a super cute guy and has been such a trooper - hoping he will continue improving steadily! Please give him a hug for me. :hugs

Cindy, Sketchie took a couple of days off last week from rehab work when I noticed he was a bit more limpy than he had been...the rest did him good and I think from now on we will do the exercises for the 5 week days and take weekends off to give him a rest break. It is going to be a slow process due to that remaining hip not being 100%, but his follow-up appointment with the rehab specialist last week was very upbeat...Sketch has already gained measurable new muscle in his remaining back leg and the specialist was super delighted with his progress. Sketch is due back for his next follow-up appointment in one month. So, all is going well. :smile2:

Thanks for thinking of our sweet boy.

That sounds like a plan. I guess like humans they need a break from rehab to allow their muscles to rest.

We have a neighbor who has a 3 legged terrier, and he seems to do just fine. When they go walking, they do take a stroller along in case the dog gets tired and needs a ride home, but most of the time he doesn't even use it.

One of my other obsessions in life is following the wolf packs in Yellowstone. While they don't end up technically 3-legged, it's fascinating how many of them suffer injuries (mainly from hunting), and end up limping badly with one leg that doesn't work quite right. In spite of that, they manage to keep up with their packs as they travel many miles each day, and usually participate in the hunting. Canines are remarkable, adaptable animals!
