Rehab for Sketchie :)

That is good news. Sounds like Sketchie is on the right track and will be having loads of fun in the future!

I would love to see videos of these games/exercises..
basically, anything with sketchie in it :)

Cindy, our oldest grandson may be coming by tomorrow and if he does (and has time) I will have him video a few of the things I am doing with Sketchie. It would be hard to video them myself because for most of the exercises I am moving constantly as I work with him hands-on...and I am not great at taking good videos even when standing totally still!

you two are soo motivating.
I took Gavin for a walk today and was so happy to see him out and about, but we will have probably 3-4 weeks of bad no activity recovery. So seeing you and Sketch getting better is inspirational :D

Cindy, Sketchie took a couple of days off last week from rehab work when I noticed he was a bit more limpy than he had been...the rest did him good and I think from now on we will do the exercises for the 5 week days and take weekends off to give him a rest break. It is going to be a slow process due to that remaining hip not being 100%, but his follow-up appointment with the rehab specialist last week was very upbeat...Sketch has already gained measurable new muscle in his remaining back leg and the specialist was super delighted with his progress. Sketch is due back for his next follow-up appointment in one month. So, all is going well. :smile2:

Thanks for thinking of our sweet boy.

Thanks for the update Trini! Hope a bit of time off helps to strengthen him.

I was just wondering, do they hydrotherapy on dogs who have lost a limb?

Since it is supposed to help with buoyancy and not stress the bones, muscles, tendons etc.

Yes, they do...but our vet hospital doesn't have that set up and the specialist doesn't think it will be needed for Sketchie since he is doing well so far. There is one facility that is about an hour's drive from us that is set up for hydrotherapy and if it is decided that Sketch would do better with that included in his rehab routine then I will definitely take him there...although he is not a big fan of water so he might not be thrilled! LOL

Glad to hear Sketchie is doing well.
Since I have been living at the vet's the past 3 months, I have seen quite a few 3 legged dogs. They all seem happy and friendly....
Of course, we see them AFTER all the hard work of physio.

But it is way better to go slowly and not have set backs than overdo things.
better for everyone's morale, too

happy holidays from me and Gavin!
