setback with Ember

Oh, Dr. Shelli, I'm so sorry that Ember has injured herself again. It seems odd that it would happen so easily when she was just days away from being able to exercise again. I'm curious to hear what the surgeon has to say.

That poor girl, I hope she doesn't have to go through this again, and then you have to worry that she is going to have the same injury again if she jumps just even once??? ... wow. No wonder you are upset and worried, I would be too!!
Doesn't matter you're 'THE' Vet.. in this case you're Ember's Mom!

I'm still thinking about you guys....hoping that the swelling goes down quickly and that the fix is not too serious.
 
Any further update on Ember?

These dogs just don't know their limits. I remember a vet telling me, years ago, that Shelties have a higher than normal pain threshold and therefore are more succestible to long term injury as a result.

They are so eager to please and perform that they tend to forget the rest.

You might need to contain her until she gets the rest that she needs. I know how hard that would be. I couldn't imagine crating my dogs now (although Indy is getting close because he's acting like such a fool!).

I was also told about Sheltie's pain tolerance - that they are very stoic dogs and won't show when they hurt. This was so true with Noah.

Hope all goes well tomorrow with the surgical consult.
 
Ember is doing good in the cast. She has her appointment tomorrow morning at 10am. She has been the forgotten dog the last 2 days with other events in the household. I have came to terms the she will most likely need more surgery and then she is going to be under house arrest for 6 wks no matter how much she pouts. :wink2: Funny thing about Ember, she is usually a wimp but when she wants something, she is a mule. Diva and Justice have a major high pain tolerance and they never complain.

BTW dog #4 is here just don't know with one I get yet. Video and pictures on my shutterfly and youtube sites soon. :smile2:

hope Ember takes it ok- locked up in the cast and crated :(
