Shedding!

After a run this morning, my babies were looking pretty pitiful so I pulled out the grooming basket and when at them! I had at least a half of a grocery bag full of hair. Seriously. Most of it was Abbie's, some was Duncan's, and about 20 strands were Pierre's. When I got Duncan, I remember a woman telling me that I would miss the 'wash and wear' of a Papillon. It is true it is harder, but soooo worth it!

Really?! :eek2: I had always thought that papillons would shed as much as a sheltie. Maybe it was the fluffy ears that made me think that.

Papillons have a single coat, so there is no undercoat to remove. They shed twice a year (ish) just like Shelties, but not to the same extent. Perhaps this is just because he's so little that it seems like less. Also, his hair (it really seems like hair and not fur) is silky, soft, and needs very little brushing, but I like to brush it anyway. I blow dry him only because he would get jealous if I did the other dogs and not him. It makes him slightly fluffier for about 10 minutes.
