Sheltie coats

As for coat types. I've never heard of fitted and full. Every Sheltie has 2 coats - and undercoat (the soft fluffy stuff they grow in winter and lose in summer) and guard hairs which are the long outer coat they grow for years. As for different Shelties having different coats, not sure about that as the outer coats are meant to be coarse (although my female has a soft coat).

Finnie definitely has a fitted coat at this point...even Piper at 9 months had more coat that Finnie has. I'm hoping that now that the colder weather has arrived (uggghhh...only November and snow is here to stay) that Finnie will get a thicker coat.

Elise has ZERO coat. We entered a show and she looked downright naked next to the other entry :(. And on top of that, she just finished her first heat which means she’ll lose the coat she had in a couple months. Sigh.

OH no! Maybe she'll coat up fast or not lose too much coat. I don't know how the breeders manage with their girls (or what products they use)...I've seen some with less coat than Finnie that look so poofy!
