Sheltie lost: Columbus, NJ. Need prayers.

We went through a similiar experience with Izzie last February. She ran from the trainers house and was gone for 11 long days. We had a great deal of snow and below zero wind chill temps during this time.

After a few sightings, we borrowed a humane trap from the local sheltie rescue organization and found her in the trap several days later. She lost several pounds and had an infection from the collar the trainer used on her, otherwise she was fine. Today, you would never know she went through that ordeal.

It was an excruciating experience for me and my wife. Central Illinois Sheltie Rescue was a godsend. They loaned us the trap and gave us hope.

Tell your friend to never give up. Shelties are smart and know how to survive!

By the way Izzie was found only a few blocks from where she took off.

Tell your friend not to give up hope. Shelties have incredible stamina and can survive more than you can imagine.

When I was a kid, we were touring through Europe with our Sheltie, Callie. We were at the top of a mountain in Austria and got out of the car to look around. Then we all jumped in and drove away, realizing about 10 minutes later that the dog was not in the car. We went back to look for her but no luck.

She was found 14 days later at the side of the road by a tour bus - barely alive, but alive nonetheless. She had lived through a major snowstorm. While we were making our way back to get her, the villagers looked after her - fed her up on sausages and viener schnitzel! She never had it so good!

Have faith! Our thoughts are with her.
 
Iwanted to add somthing about the lost dog. i have heard from many people that when they are scared they tend to hide and it must take about two weeks before theyare so hungrey they come out of hiding. Many of those people found their sheltie after two weeks!

Oh, I hope you're able to find Heidi soon! We spent many hours searching for Rachie after she got scared and bolted out the front door. As SheltieMom said, it was a trying time.

We put up lost dog pamplets everywhere but Sheltie had a good idea which eventually paid off: we put our pamplets up by garbage dumpster and mailboxes - places where people had to go to every day. Stapling them to a telephone pole or someplace similar would not have worked.

Dear St Jude, no cause is impossible with your intercession. May St Francis guide Heidi safely home. Until then, Lord, please lend your strength to her Mom to keep the faith.

I would like to tell all the people that have responded to my friend's request for prayers regarding my missing sheltie Heidi....Thank You. I still have not located her (yet). Your suggestions have helped and your support has helped me through a very difficult time. In the mornings, when I begin my search, my spirits are high and hopeful. At nights end, with no Heidi in my arms, I am hopeless, and despired. I felt like there is no hope, that I have lost my baby forever. Today was different.... Today we received a call from someone who saw our fliers about Heidi. She informed us that she saw my baby walking Friday nite, approx 1 mile from the Adult Community from where is ran off.She provided me with the hope that Heidi is alive, and that I will find her, hopefully soon. It has brought to my attention that society on the whole is not terrible and selfish. That there is still caring people out there, willing to help a stranger. I have gotten so much support/help from the community, and now here on this forum. Please continue to pray, it is working. Thank You again from the bottom of my heart. I will keep you posted
 
Thanks for the update Heidi's Mom, I've been thinking about you and hoping to hear some encouraging news.

Try not to loose hope, she's out there somewhere trying to find her way home. You'll find her!

Keep us posted, we're all waiting at the edges of our seats!
