Shelties, how they make others think they are starving!

Have you ever seen a dog peel a banana? My husband left a banana on the foot rest. It was there all day. (I was refusing to pick up after him). Tiara loves bananas. Well that girl left it there all day long.....until we got ready for bed. At that point she must have figured it was fair game since it was still there. She usually comes to bed with us. When she didn't we went out to the living room to see where she was. There she was on the living room floor with the banana peeled perfectly and the last bite of the banana. :lol:

I get a text at work from my friend who took Toffee out for me, because I had to work late... After a good romp she dropped Toffee off at Scotty's house for a playdate until I was going to pick him up..
My friend texts me the following:"You know Toffee is getting fed until he is gonna explode? Scotty's mom just fed him so much that he is so full he can hardly walk, and is sleeping it off now until she will feed him his third course, lol"

Poor Scotty's Mom really doesn't realize how Shelties will eat and eat and eat until they explode, I think:o

I thought Ember was the only sheltie that was food crazed!!!! Oh my goodness she drives me crazy! She acts like I never feed her.

Plus, everyone always asks me why don't I feed my dog enough! Some people think you should fix a BIG bowl of food, put it down, and leave it. DUDE, she would eat it ALL, and problem want more!

My silly hubby talked to the vet about it. And then didn't believe him when he said I was feeding her the right amount of food.
 
Maia's agility trainer told me to get some 'low' value treats for Maia to use in training (as Maia gets all focued on food and will not tug then) HA! Is there such a thing as a 'low' value treat for a sheltie???? Someone suggested cereal like whole grain cheerios. But I looked and they have too much sugar for my liking, so I found an organic multigrain square cereal - no sugar. I figured great, she will not like it too much! Yay right!!! She acts as if it is liver or something! Maybe I should try broccoli? It works on kids, maybe it will work on shelties too? :lol:
 
Try Chinchilla or Rabbit pellets. All fiber, no sugar, small -- mine will do anything for them!

what about using pieces of her kibble? Sometimes I just use Baiey's kibble as a treat

Nope Sca thinks stickers and hair brushed off him are high value treats. Real treats rate total focus.

my big dogs love broccoli, green beans, peas and carrots. Callie also loves lettuce but Happy doesn't care for it. food-oriented dogs think all food is great :yes:
