Smooth Hair Shelties

Melbell, I would NEVER consider your dogs to be short haired!:eek2: Dixie's mom looked like a sheltie mix that had gotten a short haircut, nothing like your shelties.:wink2: They are very beautiful and so is Dickens.
But if you look at Honey's her's is actually short hair. She can poof out, but it's still short. Ruu's is working on length, but it's very smooth.

Thanks, Tabitha! Dickens just turned one, so we've got some time before we'll know just how hairy he gets. Tell you what, though, I've never seen a Sheltie pup that looked like Dickens did at 11 weeks. Here's a shot of him that the breeder took before we came and got him.

He's turned out well, though, and we're happy with his appearance.

Yesterday I met 2 shelties while on the pier in Port Dover. They were 5 year old siblings. The male had thick, long abundant coat while the female has short almost single coat. You would never know they came from the same litter! The texture of both coats was good. Actually, the female reminded me a lot of the double merle coats on the pups from the mill seizure and was high on leg and narrow. These two dogs came from Quebec as well so I asked who the breeder was. They said they didn't remember - hmmmm. Never know, they could be related to Tinsel.
