That was my biggest challenge! I don't even remember what I did to calm her down. A lot more crate time!

new toys and chewies, lots of crate time, and stuff that calms you because you will get the sheltie stink eye because she will blame you for curbing her activity.:eek2: By weeks end I was so unpopular with both of my pups. It is a grit your teeth and get through it time...
 
Hugs Judy. I know how worrisome this is going to be. Keep reminding yourself how many spays & neuters are done every single day and as long as you protect those stitches she will do fine.
 
No spaying for Lacey next Monday after all. Guess who just went into heat today?

They told me they could still do her for a small additional charge, but I'm going to just wait at this point.

Spring is in the air. Celtic sister Clover finally went into season. Happy Birthday!. Seems everything I spayed today(10) was in season too.
 
Oh well, I did have mixed feelings about letting her have one heat cycle before spaying. I guess she decided that one for me.

to try and wait until he is at least a year or 14 months.
 
She is hardly bleeding at all just now, more like spotting. Will it get stronger as the week goes on? I'm hoping it stays really light. I have not had a bitch go into heat in over 30 years so it's like a new experience for us.
It does not seem to bother her. Dogs take these things in stride though and ignore discomfort much better than we do.

depends on the dog. usually the bleeding is fairly light for the first few days and then gets heavy up to about 7-9 days and then quits for the rest of the cycle. Some will bleed alittle bit though the whole cycle. Usually the first cycle is lighter than later cycles. Be warned some bitches are late ovulators and don't do so until 18-19 days so will be breedable until 21-22 days or so. I usually watch like a hawk for at least 4 weeks. just to be sure.
