Spitfire's new rv

Poor Spitfire! I know the whole ordeal was traumatic for both of you.

When it happened to me I was a wreck for days... crying constantly not understanding why Logan would run away from me when I loved him so much!

I called his breeder and she reassured me that he was just scared and not thinking.

Extra hugs of reassurance from my boys to Spitfire!

And an extra cookie for allowing you to groom out those awful brambles!

Spitfire will learn about the luxury he has with his new rv. Looks great.
Home away from home.

Lil' Lady doesn't like change either, needy little girl.

He has decided the spot between the slide and my driver's seat is a THE spot when driving vs the bed in the old one. Of course then we park and put the slide out and his spot disappears LOL

Sca is mostly settled and has already been caught up on the counter top :rolleyes2: He has not decided on a spot when moving though as he alternates between the couch and staring at Spitfire. He tried the passenger seat but didn't like it. Of course at night he is all over the place as unlike Spitfire he is outgoing and happy.

Oh wow. Just reading your story puts me in tears. Back with my first dog Quasar we were at an RC jet rally and some idiot lost control of his turbine powered jet. Instead if dumping it like you are supposed to he tried to battle it and flew right into the registration tent where, you guessed it, I and the dog were. He pulled out of his collar (last time in my life I walked a dog on the collar) and bolted for the hills. A parking attendant on horseback followed him and had him spotted way out in a field. I headed out to him screaming and calling and he finally circled back to me where I pounced on him bodily. I got him back in our tent trailer and spent the rest of the weekend sobbing and pulling foxtails out of his coat. It was one of the top 5 traumatic experiences of my life.

To duplicate it, my poor aged mother was holding Cubby's leash while I went to a restroom at the beach. A sea lion made noise nearby and Cubs just backed right out and headed for the road. She shrieked "stop" and he froze and sat. She collected him and when I returned she had him vice gripped to her chest in fear. I happened to have a martingale in my purse and added that so the chain met up with the leash hook and we were fine the rest of the day. Mom says it took at least 5 years off her life. We got a better harness with 2 belly straps (Ruffwear Webmaster) and he has not pulled out of it though it was too loose once and seemed like it could possibly slip. Right now with him in a fear phase I am taking no chances and doing the martingale/leash/harness trick until my confident puppy returns.

Maybe that idea would work for you?

Spitfire will likely never leave the fear phase. For all his bluster he is panicky when challenged and his fight or flight is 100% flight

What an absolutely terrifying experience for both you and Spitfire! I'm so glad you had helpers and were able to get him back.

Most definitely 100% flight for Snow, too. And she is always ready to run. It's a good thing she runs toward food.

Glad your trip settled down.

It really didn't settle. The drive home was uneventful though the day of racing was crazy with team issues. The I got home and the parking brake is locked up o the new RV (thankfully at home though). The we started Monday with a work delay  Been an off week though it could have been worse.

He is much happier this time. Behind my seat is his spot when moving. Of course the look from both of them when the slide goes out is funny

He did stay close to me but moved around without slinking :fl
