Spitfire's new rv

oh YIKES, a loose dog is my very worst nightmare. Thank heaven that you had dog-savvy helpers, a good Spitfire (it sounds like he could have made some much worse decisions here), and a whole lot of luck.

I'm so glad this had a happy ending. Hug that boy hard and tell him he has to stick around. :hugs
A good Spitfire  he never gets accused of that. He is my pennance for Sca who is overly well behaved. I did have his kennel open though for some talking and ear rubs, despite his Spitfire nature he is still my buddy and me and Sca want him to stay around :hugs

Not to figure out a suit that can remotely inflate and disable him until captured....

Oh my ... That is enough to cause a heart attack!

I am so glad every one is safe.

My Logan slipped his collar and nearly ran into a freeway so I can certainly relate to you situation and panic! The feeling of helplessness is so overwhelming...

I am so glad everything turned out ok! Thank God!

and instead tried to head off the drain line and went right into brairs and got snagged bad. I went in quick to grab him and try to stop him from binding himself worse. I got sliced up fairly bad and picked a cereal bowl worth of briars out of Spitfire but he is back and in his kennel in the motorhome :hugs He is trashed bad with goop and leaves but I am hoping he dries and I can get a bunch of the rest off of him.

:hide

Spitfire met his match...thank heavens for briars!!!!!!!!!! Hope the remainder of your weekend is much less traumatic! Heal well...briars are not fun to tangle with. :(

Oh my gosh! I'm just reading this and my heart was in my throat. SO glad that everything worked out. Hope you're tightening that harness!!

He has a real low neck to head size and can back out of almost anything. I am going to search for a lead with two clips. Normally there is a delay that I can tell him no then grab him but this was instant.

Yes thanks for briars Trini but wow am I marked up this morning from diving in after him LOL.

Oh and he is leaning on my leg right now. Either his kennel or touching me are the only options now it seems. Little #$$!@$ :hugs

well, I'm glad that Spitfire was eventually captured- that is way too scary when they get loose. and when they either can't/won't respond when you call them- very scary...
glad that the other flyball guys were able to help you out:yes:

Sheep,
I am so glad that everything worked out well. I know your heart was lodged in your throat while you were chasing the Spitfire. Sunny and Snow have each escaped their collars once. Poor Sunny was devastated and stopped and came back when I called her and waved her collar in the air. Speedster Snow didn't look back as she sprinted the quarter mile back to the house. We were all praying she stopped because there was going to be no catching her if she made it to the woods.
Spitfire must be a little speedster, too. I afraid a double harness of velcro might be in order for the time being to allow the heart to slow down and the injuries to heal. And to let Spitfire to forget his taste of freedom.
Take care,
Pam and Sunny and Snow

Spitfire has no taste of freedom he was either in his kennel or glued to me for the rest of the weekend. He was in utter panic. I am going to try to find a leash that has two hooks on it so I can hook to his harness and collar both. He is a panicky little guy and at the strangest things. Most of his bluster is bluff.

I don't let Sca out off leash but he would likely be fine. I trust Spitfire less than zero  and he has proven me correct.

Most of what I pulled out of him (doesn't look that big but it is a dinner plate size pile). Took about a half hour in the motorhome bathroom with take a few more hits than in the process. Feel like I fought with a cat today.

That pile of bramble branches reminds me of the time my Samoyed drove into a clump of wild blackberry bushes after a rabbit. I had seen rabbits use that clump for safety when a coyote was after them...and had left it growing for the rabbit's safety. Probably not the smartest decision I ever made. My Samoyed (Sunshine) was so tangled I had to go back up to the barn and get hedge clippers (not motorized) to cut her out of the brambles. Like you, by the time I had her freed and her coat clear of brambles, I felt and looked like I had been in a serious cat fight.

BTW those bramble scratches tend to infect fairly easily...so you might want to use some over the counter antibiotic cream on them if you haven't already. Not fun.
