Strange,sometimes agressive,behavior with Mia

glad to hear that things are returning to normal

Mia has done well on the weight loss scene,losing 4 lbs. What a differance 4lbs makes on her little frame.
Trapp has lost in total 4.5 lbs now,and Jasper has lost 3. So we are doing good there as well. Of course Trapp gets a good workout every Tues doing rally,and some agility as well.
Plus lots of extra walks,and frisbee thowing for the two boys.

After tossing & turning about food,I had thought seriously about going back to TOTW. They never in almost 3 years had weight issues. I nearly bought a bag...then Brian said no. The man pays the bills here...so I complied.

We have decided on Acana. I hope this will do it,and no weight gains.They all seem satisfied.

We have used Acana, Orijen, Nutrisca, Pinnacle, Avoderm since switching from TOTW. They have all been good so we will probably just keep switching around.....
Glad that the pups have gotten some weight off.... Dix needs to lose a lb or two.....

Great news! I am so happy things are back to normal.

Hopefully by keeping track of their weight and making sure it doesn't increase, you will have the portions down just right to keep them both healthy and satisfied.

I find with Kyara that this varies though depending on how warm the day is, how much exercise she gets, if she gets babysat by my parents who ''say they don't give her table scraps , etc. I guess it's just something we always have to adjust.

Right now she has a good 4 lbs to lose, doggy bootcamp time!! (or rather mommy bootcamp as I will need to get up earlier to get in a second walk per day )

Glad to hear things are better. My guys were up a bit and got cut back. They are both pretty food obsessed so they were moot happy. Spitfire passed the rib test tonight and Sca is close though he will get a bunch of treats running this weekend . As things cool they run more also so I just need to be careful in the summer.

Hopefully your crew will do well on Acana. We were on TOTW too, but decided to switch when that big recall hit. I really like Acana. Lerwick has had no tummy issues on the Acana, and he is nice and lean. We feed either Pacifica or Ranchlands (Lerwick can't have poultry), and right now he's on a mixture of the two. Lerwick absolutely loves the Acana food (though he isn't particularly picky), and when we first brought the Acana Pacifica home for Lerwick, our extremely picky cat actually jumped up on the table and tried to climb into the bag when we opened it. So it gets the Majo seal of approval, too, and that is a hard accolade to earn. We had to start buying the feline Acana Pacifica too, because Majo refused to eat the food we'd gotten for her once she'd gotten a whiff of the Acana!

Well thank you for the input on Acana. I really had not found to many threads here on forum about it,but what I did find was all good news.

So glad there was a simple explanation and simple fix!
I do know food aggression/guarding is a very common thing, even when other people try and minimize it (how many times have we heard 'my dog has never done xyz before'!). But I hadn't realized that dieting doggies would get cranky, poor guys, and that low cal food could be the instigator.

I guess my Sheltie is just the normal 'I'm always hungry' foodhound but not actually underfed (although he has always gone after the trash!).

Another good vote for the Acana! Thank you. She seems to be just fine,thank heavens. Another shout out for the Thundershirt,it sure does help her.She has been along time not wearing it,so I thought...it worked wonders before to help her why not now.

She is now back to motoring thru the house with no hesitations,which is awesome.

I never ever had garbage picking dogs,not even seemed interested in trying. About the only garbage can that would get invaded was the bathroom. But I fixed that,and bought a small stainless steel type that you have to step on to open.
Now unless..SuPeR JaSpEr..has figured out a way to open it,we have been good.
