Surgery for Layla the Therapy Sheltie

It's great that she's comfortable in the stroller. Spirit would hate that. Which really means that I should work with her on riding in a stroller, just in case.

So glad to hear she's doing fine. Do her little shaved legs look like pins?

Sca would not be sure but stay in because he is good. Spitfire would be barking 'Faster knave!'

Funny, that's exactly what Deska does - he barks at everyone when he's in the stroller, but I think he's saying "look at me, I'm king of the world!"

I'll find out this morning

Such great news!
Layla is so appreciative of your care and please take pictures of your princess in her chariot!

For those interested, here's the whole story:

Layla's bilateral elbow surgery went extremely well. After I dropped her off, a VOSM staff member called to say that Dr. Canapp said if Layla needed the stem cell therapy, he would enroll her in a clinical trial if I would agree to bring her back at prescribed intervals. I was delighted! However, when he called after he’d finished, he said her right elbow was much less deteriorated than the x-rays had initially led him to believe. The left elbow was equivalent. So she only needed to have the joint de-fragged and smoothed, followed by PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) regenerative treatment. All in all, much kinder to her body and to our wallets.
I brought her home, where she’s much happier, even if she now has poodle legs and will be in an x-pen until September! After a few days recovery time (only walks for potty purposes), we start rehab at home. The discharge tech taught me what to do, and it’s very easy. She’ll also go to a local rehab place weekly for three months (she’s going to be less than thrilled with the underwater treadmill). She can travel after her stitches come out, and I can take her on outings and to Walter Reed in her stroller (shades of Chariots of Fur!).
She had a comfortable night, ate dinner last night (salmon and rice) and breakfast this morning (kibble, chicken and rice). We had a piddle walk, and she’s sleeping after her antibiotics and codeine.
Thank you all so much for the prayers and support!

I'm glad surgery went well and Layla's elbows were better than expected. We send her quick healing thoughts and an easy recovery!
