Teddy had a set back.

Ron, it's members like you and Teddy who make this Forum such a special place. There is nowhere else I know with the support and caring of this community and all its members. Sure, you'll get some helpful suggestions on Facebook but also usually a glut of snark.

God bless your wife, she is an angel even though she prefers cats to Shelties! It's wonderful that Teddy keeps doing his job, which is you. I suspect he was sent to you for a very special reason to help keep you well and happy. There's a reason we keep hearing dogs are good for our health, both mental and physical. Hang in there; you and Teddy will get through this and we will continue to be here for all of you and each other. :hugs

Ann has said it perfectly! Of course you deserve to have Teddy and he's lucky to have you! The "perfect" life does not exist! My hubby and I were saying how lucky these 3 pups are, I went down to part time work after Faith came, and some of that was weekends so the dogs never had to deal with both of us working full time, unlike our first 3 Shelties. We usually came home on staggered lunch breaks to be with them but still. And I believe they were happy anyway. This crew now is spoiled with us retired!

I'm sorry you've found your vet situation to be lacking. When we're worried about our pets we want to be taken seriously. And by the way, you are one of the most supportive persons on the Forums! Always with a positive and encouraging word for everyone! Don't think it isn't noticed, and appreciated. :)

Shelties aren't pets...and they aren't only members of the family.
They are companions, friends, and partners in life.
Of course you deserve Teddy, everyone deserves love and companionship.

I know my previous buy Gavin lived FOR me for at least a year (if not longer).
That is a very special kind of love; all we can do is try and be worthy of it.
An most of the people on here really do try, which means their pups are lucky.
Just like Teddy is lucky.

Thanks everyone for the kind words,I know that my Shelties have been special each in their own way.
And Sharon ,I still remember Miss April always had a noise she would make when she saw the Coke bag come out ,it has her supplies in it and would mean we "both of us were off to work. I loved having her be able to do that
Teddy and I had a very quiet day he and I slept for 5 or 6 hours. Right now my wife and Teddy are doing the big daily walk and I would bet he is 1 happy camper because he has no cone on. When we are inside been leaving wound open to air and cone on,when outside doing the reverse.
Thanks again everyone for your assistance it means a lot. Now for today'sl picture

After he came back in I offered food before reapplying the cone, which he declined. but he tried to lick his aret so the cone reappeared. I have noticed that he is drinking more water, I wonder if that is due to his meds?

Late to comment here, but please don't harbor those kinds of thoughts.
And you keep right on advocating for Teddy's best interest, some people just don't listen until you get umm...emphatic! The old saw the squeaky wheel gets the grease didn't come from no where!

The eternal curious student in me is looking at those pics goin WTH is that?? Originally a puncture? Spider bite?

They might have given him a steroid to reduce swelling, that tends to make you thirsty

No definitive answer yet. Last week Wednesday, while brushing him I found a lump about maybe 1 inch long and between 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide with a spot in the center. I thought he might have gotten bit by a small Weiner dog while out walking since they said 1 was running around on their walk that Monday. But not sure. At lot of puss and a few calcium grains is what I saw in the beginning.

Well yesterday my wife was talking to another staff member at her school and was telling her about all of Teddys Vet adventures. Her husband runs the family farm, and uses the same place. She said any they have them come out to look at an animal they ask for a "Senior Vet" so maybe I wasn't wrong ask for his Gallbladder Dr. I didn't get him but I did have one that has been there a long time.

Did they send it in for testing to see what it is?
Hopefully Teddy is feeling better today!
I put Piper’s cone on him last night, he tried to scratch it yesterday evening so I knew I couldn’t trust him overnight! He was giving me a dirty look this morning so I took it off…I can keep an eye on him and he’ll be coming out with us this afternoon (my mom has an eye appointment).
His cone is the padded kind so it’s not like it’s uncomfortable …
