Teddy lost his back yard for this week

Well Teddy and I went to the side street beside the festival and He began his own brand of nose work. He left his leave it response at home and wanted to collect any fries that made it to the ground. He is ignoring me right now because I turned around and brought him home. My wife said he's not happy with my decision.
I frequently practice leave it in the Walmart parking lot (unbelievable how some people are such pigs dropping their food on the ground) and they get a reward when we can practically walk over the discarded food without a glance. Piper would crack me up...he’d try to go around the food he was trying to avoid it at all costs:ROFLMAO:

Well this morning I am still on Teddy's S *** List. I am the object of avoidence, For our 7 am walk he refused to get out of his bed until my wife came and got him. She came back and said they had a GREAT walk. Makes me feel about this . tall. Wonder how long this will continue? All because I would not let him eat all the fries he could scrounge. :(

Sorry Ron, but this made me laugh. :ROFLMAO:
I know what it is like to be on a Sheltie's s*** list and you do have my sympathy. They sure know how to work the guilt trip...but hold firm and once he knows he isn't going to win this one he will decide it is best to just forgive you. Currently it is my Pommie, Panda, who does the s*** list...this is new behavior for him and he is already very talented at it...suddenly he can't see or hear me when he is PO'd. Laddie hasn't caught on yet to this behavior but I suspect he will all too soon. :(

Most of my group have short memories, thankfully, but Checkers and Sprite really know how to hold a grudge. Sprite frequently gives me that "You've disappointed me, sigh..." look when I won't play her favorite ball game and then avoids me. I don't think Checkers has forgiven me yet for bringing Lacey home and that was 10 years ago! She will actually turn her back on you for leaving her when she feels neglected. :cool1:

I've found the girls more temperamental in that regard than boys, but then I haven't had many boys. For Teddy, maybe do something he really likes today...a special game, or some treats hidden around the house to get him engaged. I promise you he will get over it! Just don't let him talk to Checkers... :uhoh:

Be strong- you have to help him for his own good:yes:

Zulu would lose his mind! We keep him in the house when our neighbor cuts his grass along the back fence.

Annie normally hates noises but she has a weird fascination with lawn mowers. She will bark but will follow DH as he mows and will follow the neighbors along both fence lines even though she can't see them all excited because they are mowing. Not sure where this came from as other dogs not fans, but it is like a celebration when someone decides its time to mow.

As for the original OP I'm sorry you have to go through this with the dogs. This summer has been the summer for the neighborhood catching up on delayed home/yard work and its driven the dogs nuts. They are not fans of drills, power saws, back hoes, etc. and we've had them all summer and now into the fall. The city has been doing road and water repair work as well all needed but the dogs don't really care why its just one project after another.

We didn't help as we had to have windows done and then horrors of horrors it was over a week without their beloved back porch to their yard as we had to have it replaced. As with all things nothing lasts forever but try telling that to a Sheltie who believes routines and special places should not be altered in any way. After about a month they've finally decided to lay down when outside on the deck. They've been protesting since it was replaced that it isn't the old one with splinters.

My husband melts when the dogs look at him. I remember when we took Bailey to obedience class it was the first thing the instructor warned us about he's so cute you will find it hard to say no. He wasn't wrong. I tell my husband it isn't easy to be a good dog dad because it means looking into those adorable faces and disappointing them for their own good. They have no concept of their own good when it comes to stuff they shouldn't be eating, doing, etc.
