The little @#*!@!**

Drama... Pico may have just gotten a boo-boo and then recovered. We were out walking last week, Deacon was fine, then all the sudden he was limping. I carried him the whole way home and I do swear he was smiling. There was no repeat of a limp that day or since.

Ruffles is great at this too. In all fairness, she's small and does get knocked into when we're all playing ball outside. Sometimes she'll come limping to me with the most pathetic look you can imagine. The Sucker (that would be me) picks her up, carries her into the house and places her carefully on the couch. As soon as I go near the counter with the cookie jar, the Miraculous Recovery occurs and all four paws are just fine. :sneaky:

Piper does this as well but he can twist a paw as he’s a spinner and gets way too rambunctious when he’s barking at something. He comes to me and I rub the joint and fortunately he’s typically ok. I know we do tend to place emotions on them but they don’t have it in them, they come to us because they trust us 100% to make them better. They’re smart…but they’re not that smart! Lol

shelties are so good at manipulation!
i agree that dogs dont act with malice but they definitely know self interest :)
its why the 6 weeks of crying multiple times a night is so funny. there is no way he was playing THAT long of a game even if it feels that way.
they are much more interested in more immediate benefits.

still no accidents overnight....he wakes me first around 5, then lets me sleep until 6

One word 'Spitfire'

If he has a limp from playing to rough with Angus before and now Ian (he is getting old) it is hard to see as he powers through it. Now teasing and tormenting THAT is his specialty.
