The Woes of Having an Older Sheltie

Good thoughts being sent your way that Danny gets some relief from the protocol.

I have a 16 year old, and it just seems like things keep popping up with Wendell (none of the issues are cheap to treat). I figure it is the price I pay for the joy of having Wendell around for so many years.

Thanks everyone. He started taking the pred yesterday. So far I've seen no changes but it's early.

Ellen, is the pred for his probable IBD? If so it will usually take more than the 4 days he has been on it to start to really see improvement. Don't give up on it yet.

I hope Danny gets better! We have a 13 yr. old Sheltie--Lacey. Watching them age and knowing your time with them is limited is so so hard.

He got worse on it and the diarrhea started up again and he's not eating since we started the pred.

That is not good. The preds should actually have made him more hungry, rather than have him not eating. Sorry he is having such a tough time and hope your vet can figure out someway to make him more comfortable.

Well tonight he acts better and ate most of a can of food. :smile2:
