Tinsel's Journey

Thanks for sharing this wonderful rescue story.

Wow, can James' forever Mommy ever write. I bet she could get that story published. She could go professional, if she isn't already.

God Bless her and her girls for opening their hearts and home to James.

He will never be without again.

That was a great story. I'm fighting back the tears. I have a small human named James and called Jamesy. He was thrilled to hear of a dog by the same name.

I loved reading the story. Thanks for posting it.

Quick update: Tinsel had his 2nd extended period of house freedom while we were out today. Yesterday he was out for 5 hours while we went to dinner and today it was 6 while we were at a funeral. Both times there were no accidents or damage and he was thrilled to see us come home. He's also popping in and out of the crate while his door is open during the day but is still reluctant first thing in the morning after he's been in with the door shut. However, he is coming out fairly quickly, usually a few minutes with the clicker and some breakfast. We are even seeing a little progress with getting him to go out without being carried although it is still more carried than not.
I'm going to have to watch him with the patio door. This is the door that Rhiannon goes out and the area is not a confined one. He's starting to show a little too much interest in it. The fencing is going up in Spring but until then......
Today we celebrated the life of an extrordinary woman that I was fortunate enough to have in my corner while growing up. She was my "heart" mother and she passed away last Thursday. She was an avid friend to people and animals alike but what little she had she sent to animal foundations. She'll be up there now watching Tinsel recover and I'm sure doing what she did best... loving and encouraging us. Please add her to your prayers tonight.

I added her to the top of my prayer list. I wish I knew personally somebody who has a passion for animals especially rescue. Tinsel's progress is so heartwarming. What a good girl she was all by herself. So sweet getting excited when mom comes home.

We had our first major thunder and lightening storm last night since the arrival of our Tinsel. I was worried that Rhiannon's reaction might have some effect on him but he just looked up a few times and then rolled over. Rhi did much better with the Thundershirt - what an amazing thing.
Earlier today we went for a walk in the hay field and he was showing some discomfort so I carried him back to the grass. We are going to xray his wrist when he goes in for his dew claw removal later this month so are watching his physical response to any changes in terrain. When you see him do the spins for breakfast you would never know there was anything wrong but there is - what we don't know yet. Poor little guy is going to have to have rads of his wrist and jaw, blood work and dew claw removal on the same day. He's already a star but is soon to be a bright star with all the xrays!
His new collar works like a charm. He can't slip it and I don't have to adjust it once it is on. He's going to my son's on Saturday before class for a birthday celebration. Hope it won't be too much for him to deal with but if he starts to stress we will leave right away. I'd leave him home and go and get him for class except the trip is over an hour one way. Fingers crossed everyone!

My deepest condolences to you, I am so sorry you have lost such a great friend. Prayers to her and you as well.

I am happy to hear Tinsel did well during the storm and hope you will soon find out what the issue with discomfort. Alone for 6 hours, he is doing so well. All your patience and training with him really is paying off. God Bless.

Many good thoughts for you and yours. Hoping that the Tin Man aces his doctor visit and gets through like the winner that he is.

Best,
Kate

Sorry I haven't posted in a while but I'm always reading your posts about Tinsel. He's made such wonderful progress, keep up the good work!

P.S. Thundershirts really can be amazing! Toby's really does wonders for him on garbage day and during Thunderstorms too.
