Tully's not doing well

I use a soft hip chew/treat, and I just squish the pill in it. Gulps it right down, now the supplement pill for milk thistle that is supposed to be beef flavored he will eat around half the time....sigh...

Caro can she eat fruit?
:yuck: :ick That's what Tully thinks of fruit and vegetables.

I found some 2 Ondansatron (Zofran) tablets so gave her one of them today and it helped a lot. They are so easy to just hide in a piece of fish. That solved the issue of giving her a Carafate today. tomorrow I'll attempt tipping it in dry. Otherwise, yep I'll need to work on my technique.

She's having lots of ups and downs. Certainly the nausea meds help a lot. But she's usually sick after eating. Today I had a support worker here, and Tully got too excited about a visitor and made herself unwell. Plus her poops are green and I think that might be bad. Still haven't been able to get hold of the specialist or local vet. tomorrow I'll have to ring around further afield.

Caro,

Giardia often causes stool material to turn green...has Tully been tested for Giardia or other parasites...that would also be connected to her vomiting if she does have a parasitic infection. I am so sorry she is going through all of this.

Thanks, that's actually very interesting. Tully hasn't had a stool test in a while, and I've been too scared to worm her. Her latest flare up started from eating dirt at busy part of the horse paddocks and puppy got sick at the same time, so they definitely could have picked it up giardia or something else. The specialist said Tully had enteritis probably caused by the horse paddock dirt. The puppy went onto metronidazole for a few days and that cleared up her diarrhea. Tully is still on metronidazole for another week because of her gallbladder, so hopefully that will be enough to clear up whatever she has. Her stool was bright yellow at first because of the gallbladder infection, now it looks dark green but is firmish.

Do you have tele- health for pets? They just started that here. Video chats with a vet. Of course it would be better for Tully to see a vet who already knows her, but maybe it would be better than nothing

Is it possible that there is an alternative steroid to pred that could be tried? Not all people tolerate it. Yes it can cause some muscle wasting and weakness long term. Off pred, my dog gained it back quickly. pred can also cause teeth and gum damage.

it is not your fault for getting sick anymore than it was my fault i had a dog get imha and i had to delay his doc appointment And tooth cleaning where it was diagnosed because I had a premature baby and emergency csection days before those were scheduled. the tooth cleaning is when he bled too much and it was discovered. I had a vet tech accuse me of being an irresponsible dog owner as i am juggling a 24 month old and baby that should have still been in my belly. For not noticing the signs on a condition that is acute and they caused the bleeding and started procedure before his bloodwork came back. Luckily the vet had a different opinion. And hearing this YOU know it was not my fault my dog got sick nor did i ignore a condition that was acute onset and not showing clinical signs until he almost bled out in their table.
