Due to a family emergency I have not been on the forum much for the past 2 months and now that I am back I wanted to again thank everyone for their prayers for my Pixie back in early September when she was dx'd with pretty severe liver damage and didn't seem to be responding to meds and diet. It has been a long journey that initially didn't hold out a lot of hope. Then 2 weeks ago she landed in the hospital for 5 days with severe pancreatitis on top of her multiple other health issues...we honestly didn't think she would be coming home. However, she has once again surprised us all with her will to live. She is home, on a new home cooked "liver friendly" diet, has started Atopica to replace the preds she has been on for years to control her IBD (this med change will hopefully take out her steroid induced Cushing's), her liver readings have improved and she is doing better than she has for many months! We still know things could reverse at any time...but every good day is a day to celebrate. So your prayers didn't fall on deaf ears.
Dante, who had injured his right ACL 3+ months ago, finally had to undergo surgery as it was not healing even with limited activity. He came through that surgery with flying colors but then 4 weeks later he dislocated his hip on the same leg. The Drs couldn't get the hip back into it's socket due to severe deterioration from HD. So, back to very limited exercise for a month to see if his body will naturally build a muscle sling to hold the leg bone in place...if not then he will be headed for a femoral head and neck removal. So far, it is looking good...fingers crossed no more surgery needed.
Again, my thanks for all the support...Trini
