Hey Mary,
No I haven't tried DE but Steven has, did it for months along with the pups. Overall we didn't notice a difference except that just knowing that it is a cleanser for your insides is kind of cool.
WolfCreekRanch has so many write ups about DE and also ingesting to get rid of parasites. They can answer your questions so much better than I can.
Between you and me Mary, the idea of even seeing a parasite, well not necessary for me to do, if you get my idea!
I know that you will enjoy the results of using DE as much as we have. Three years running for us, having not used flea meds except when we discontinued use of DE too early last year and the year before. Best to use it outside for the whole season, right up til Autumn and the first frost.
DE does need to be respread after a rain. Piece of cake, keeps one in shape and peace of mind is priceless. Ohhh Noo so sorry to hear that you had to absorb the cost of the 'bug man's' services. Can't they for Pete's Sake cut you a break?

Who knows what they are spraying on my yard... not sure I do want to know! I felt so bad about it anyway as it kills all the good bugs even. They had a good laugh when I initially called them and said I would only like to kill the spiders, nothing else. They told me it was all or nothing and I must say it hurt my heart to see grasshoppers and beatles dead the following day.
