Actually, it doesn't really bother them at all. It is a very quick surgery and they are recovered usually by the evening! It is less severe than getting the teeth cleaned, or spaying or neutering. However, I do realize that the latter NEED to be done where some feel that de-barking doesn't....if you live in close proximity to neighbors and have more than one Shelties...you NEED to have it done LOL I have a great vet that does mine. We drop them off in the morning and pick them up early afternoon. They are sleepy on the way home but are ready to eat by evening. The next day they are completely back to normal! (At least all of mine have beenPeople de-barked dogs? Ouch, that sound painful!
) It is much more humane than a Sheltie ending up in a shelter because the owner can't control the chattiness of their dog!Thank you! It was so hard to leave but I figured it was better to leave her than to pull her from where she seemed very happy. Plus my parents had the Sheltie bug since theirs passed away two years ago. That darn bug.
