Water bowl for "side" drinkers?

Could you please write a brief review on it, Cheryl? One of the reviews on Petsmart said something about difficulty refilling because it's hard to "flip" a 2.5 gallon container. (I'm only looking at the 1 gallon medium.)

I had a self filling bowl like this

It is the reason Ember distrusts the water bowl. it glugs and bubbles and scares the daylights out of her.

I have one like that in plastic and the problem I'm having is the bottle is getting some build up near the bottom (where it sits in the main bowl) from the hard water we have and I have yet to find a way to clean it; which is why I like the one Cheryl linked to.

I had NO IDEA they made it in stainless though. The retail stores must only carry the plastic versions because I was just in the store tonight and they didn't have either one of these bowls.

I had never seen one in stainless steel either, that's why I was so excited about this one. I see a lot of the plastic ones saying they have microbial something or rather, but I just didn't want to do plastic for long-term.

I went to Petsmart to find a new bowl. First, I still find it EXTREMELY strange that Koji used to drink like this, but Miko didn't. Now Miko does and Koji doesn't. Strange little boys.

Anyhow, my biggest concern was Koji drinking down the water so that when Miko would drink, his tongue just wouldn't hit anything. Especially during the day when I'm not home. And if you recall, Miko has kidney failure, so he needs the water (sorry, can't do broth, and he gets home cooked food, so he actually gets a lot of water in that, but still drinks a ton).

So, this is what I bought them: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4001472&lmdn=Category

I wasn't sure at first if Miko would like it. Although, it was hilarious, I had moved it about a foot from where his bowl normally is and picked up the old bowl. He walked over there later, staring at the spot, like, where is it? Then saw the new one. LOL

He seems to really like it. I mean, he's still drinking from the side, but with the big water container in the way, he seems to get his face just a little bit more in there, which means he gets water faster. AND I don't have to worry about the water getting to low since it's in that huge container (holds 1 gallon). You can even put a filter in it (we use filtered water anyways, so I'm not buying it).

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I think this may just work. :)

I have one like that at the cottage....it does not deal with the side drinking issue, unfortunately, but at least it ensures that there is a steady supply of water available.

OMG, I laughed a bit. Sorry Ember.

Ember here: Don't laugh at me , the dang thing is possessed. Evil Evil Evil!

Diva Here: Go ahead and laugh at her, I do. Sometimes just for fun, I used to bang it with my head to make it bubble and then Ember rans from the room. I would laugh. Mom took it away cause Ember would hide in the bedroom all day, party pooper, Mom.
