We have little brother!

Sca is DOOMED!!!! Spitfire figured out how to jump on the couch. It was so funny he followed Sca up and just stood there like WOW :confused2: But he remembered and pops up at will now. So Sca has lost his escape place and Spitfire can still zoom under things.

Oh and I had him informally measured at the Flyball tournament and he is 12.5" now so at nine months he still has a 1/2 to spare as a minimum height dog.

Oh no Sca! You are in for it now.:smile2:

Birch almost jumped onto the bed a couple nights ago chasing Diva. His projection was just alittle off but he was almost there. He couldn't figure out how to do it again. One of these days Diva will be in for the suprise of her life. Of course, Diva probably can't figure out why he can't jump as she master this skill at 10 weeks.

He just might stay under 13" crossing fingers for you. Which reminds me I need to measure the Giraffe boy.

Oh boy Sca your days of hiding are over. We happened to watch videos this weekend one was Zak jumping on the sofa for the first time- there went Maggie's get away. Have fun Spitfire.

I had to chuckle at one point Spitfire jumped up and stood looking at me. He was so proud of himself  he had a pretty cool look on him and dodn't move until I gave him an ear scratch

It kind of means the starvation plan the bad people use to undersize them might have validity. When I got him he had to fight the horde for food and now he gets watched and his bowl is 100% off limits to Sca until he walks off. Of course maybe he was fed separate at his kennel also. Just kind of interesting that he had one last growth spurt a couple of months after being home.

On the other hand he was cooperating so well that he might still be 12"

When we got Lerwick, I asked the breeder how much he was eating a day, and she said she couldn't really tell me, since she fed all the puppies at once from one big bowl... so you are right about them competing with the horde for food (unless she started feeding them differently as they got older, I don't know).

I think you're also probably right that it is the extra food Spitfire's getting from you that caused his recent growth spurt. For the first two months we had Lerwick, we were following the feeding guidelines on his food (an all lifestages food), but our vet told us not only to switch to puppy food, but also to increase the amount we were feeding dramatically, because she was concerned that Lerwick was growing too slowly, and she felt he needed a giant calorie bomb every day. As soon as we did, he started growing like a weed! Of course, now he is slightly over 16", so he definitely made up for his slow start!

I think it's funny we've got a pair of book-end siblings... both just outside either end of the standard. I wonder if the other pups from this litter tend more towards Spitfire, or Lerwick, in terms of size.

Shoot all in one bowl it is a wonder Spitfire got any food as he was tiny. We measured him at Flyball though and he was 12.5" Hopefully at 9 months he is done as he needs to stay under 13" to be a minimum height dog in Flyball

Hopefully he won't surprise you with another growth spurt. I think Lerwick is pretty much done growing, and we're still giving him the extra food portions, as per vet's instructions, and he hasn't grown much since he was 6 months old. When I measured him at 8 months, he'd only grown 1/4 inch. I plan to measure him again next week, so we'll see then, but I don't expect he'll have grown too much more.

So Spitfire's stain has turned black but now he has a white spot on his back. I am think he will be dark in the front and gold in the back.

Oh and he thinks the couch is just dandy

Ha ha ha... Lerwick has white patches on is back too now, and lots of black hairs sprouting everywhere. We have no idea what color he's going to settle on!
