Wellness Super5Mix Or Innova?

Meggie eats the Wellness whitefish and sweet potato and my grand-doggers are on the Super5 Mix. My daughter is visiting now so I just asked her opinion. Neither of us have had any trouble with soft stools and both like the Wellness. I will say that I tried Wellness canned food once and Meggie got soft stools.

Another note, my dad's dog was eating crappy dog food when I arrived here and I've switched her over to Wellness. She went from soft stools that were impossible to pick up to firm stools. I like the Wellness.

I had Smudge on Wellness for a while but then had to switch. If your dog is already having bathroom problems there's a good chance Wellness isn't going to help. He LOVED the way it tasted, but I switched to Orijen because of the bathroom problems it caused.

I still give him puppy treats by Old Mother Hubbard though. He likes their crunchy dog bone biscuits. That's the same company that makes Wellness.

I feed my two Wellness 5 Mix and they have never had loose stools and anyone I know who feeds Wellness they love it. As I have posted before someone's dog through a friend I found out had immune problems, and Wellness really helped that dog out. We don't have immune problems but I thought that was fantastic. I know this loose stool comes up everyone once and awhile. I don't believe what people post on comments at the food site.
It could be competitors, or what are these people doing besides the food?
Are the dogs having problems with parasites? My two little ones love the stuff, and do very well.

I love what the food offers, I love the protein %. I do go searching for coupons though. There is a 1-800 phone number on the bag of food you can call and get a coupon also. I just received a $10 off to be used at the register.

My thoughts on food, if works, don't fix it.

I've decided to try Wellness

After much debate I've decided to give Wellness a try.

I went with it for a few reasons. I've been trying to find something that is low to moderate in fat and protein, since she's had digestive problems similar to chronic pancreatitis, although I could never get it diagnosed.

It also has fish higher up the ingredients list than Innova, which I think will be good for her constipation and coat (for their oils) and it contains flax seed. Its over all higher in Omega fatty acids and also contains probiotics, which are good for digestion.

I'm going to mix it in VERY slowly, in hopes that it won't cause one of her attacks.

It sounds like it might be a good fit for Sadie for all the reasons why other pups have issues with it.

Good luck with the transition. I sure hope it works out for her.

So Far So Good With Wellness

I've been VERY slowly introducing Wellness into Sadie's diet and she's been doing very well. She had one small instance of diarrhea but it didn't have the usual intensity or symptoms of one of her attacks.

I gave her 1/4 wellness to 3/4 vet food for a month, then half and half for one month with no problems. Since she's done so well I'm going to try 3/4 Wellness to 1/4 vet food for two weeks before switching to wellness entirely (assuming all continues to go well).

Sadie's constipation is much better, her poos are a good consistancy and the wellness hasn't given her loose bowels like some other dogs who have been on wellness.

But, I haven't seen the change in her skin and coat that I'd hoped for. Her coat looks beautiful but I thought maybe slightly on the dry side. But maybe I'm just being picky.

Her skin still looks slightly flaky or maybe its just me? In any case, she no longer seems itchy, which is what I wanted, so maybe I should just let it go.

I don't think I'm brave enough to try any oils to supplement her diet, since the added fat causes one of her digestive flare ups.

How long have you been switching? It will take some time for the skin and coat to react to the new food. You also might want to try some salmon oil.
I give Maggie Grizzly Bear Salmon oil once a day.

Due to digestive problems, I've been transitioning her very slowly. She's been getting it for 2 months now and is getting half Wellness and half vet food right now.

I can't give her oil of any kind, as her system does not tolerate any extra fat on a regular basis.
