Westminster 2012

What a frickin' nightmare for the handlers. Let's see....you win the breed at one location, pack up all your needs for grooming for the group, and jump through the hoops that get you into Madison Square Garden. At the end of the night, go back to location #1 for your classes the next day.

Benching for class animals will last all day, probably until 6pm.

Revenues must be down for the club to delute the mystique of Westminster. An entry of 3200 dogs instead of 1700-1800.
Now really, who would fly a class dog ( one major) across the country to show in the classes? And...what if your breed entry didn't make a major? You could go Reserve with and entry of 4.....And spend over $200 (on a good day) a night for your hotel. Oh, and forget parking your car. For AKC's "Meet The Breeds", I paid $60 to park my van for one day.

Hey, but the ribbon says "Westminster Kennel Club, February 11 & 12, 2013"
I wonder if they will give rosettes or flat ribbons for the class placements?

This will prove to be VERY interesting. LOL

And HUGE congratulations to "Olivia" AM/CA Shelhaven Sweet Seduction on her Award of Merit. The winningest sheltie in Canadian history. A lovely girl that comes down from our Mark on both sides.
We are so happy for Karen and Bob Henley and co-owners Todd and Allison Foley.

The Best of Opposite winner is related to Edan's and CJ's half-sister. The dog's grand-sire is their half-sister's sire.

I saw the dog's registered name and did a double take. Of course I had to jump out to http://www.pedigreelines.com/ to check for the relationship.

I just saw Shetland Sheepdog #11  All the other dogs were serious and you could just see the Sheltie was on the edge of zoomies

But the fix is probably in and the kinky haired mop or some other non-Sheltie will win :rolleyes2:

The Sheltie came in 4th; GS won the group. At least the Sheltie placed this year. That's the highest I've seen a Sheltie rank at Westminster since I started watching it.

Linda and Man About Town took a Group 1 at Westminster in 1997.

Edit:
Looked at the Westminster records and the first recorded Sheltie to win the group at Westminster was in 1932 when they were in the Working group!

Chris, that photo is too adorable! There aren't very many of those rosettes around... it's a very special item to get to pose with. :smile2:

I'm pretty sure he got a Group 2 under Linda Moore, also - I have the picture in my mind with a red rosette? I could be remembering wrong.
