What about Extra Virgin Coconut Oil?

This is what it says

I found this article too, so this is not a new thing. I'm just surprised that I've never heard of this before. It sounds to me like dogs would benefit from being given both fish oil and coconut oil, since they seem to do different things.

That's my understanding too. I had thought one or the other, but not switching off regularly. It's (EVCO) is supposed to be very healthy for humans too.

i think it would be good to us along with the salmon oil as they both have a different effect on the body. The web site has a list of what it benefits.
" Lauric acid fights and destroys viruses and various pathogenic bacteria, protecting your pets against infection and boosting the immune system " - addtionally it is good for coat, metabolisum, energy and speeds healing.
The web site has a section talking about salmon oil and coconut oil.

Coconut oil (unrefined) is actually really good for your (a human's) skin. It's a moisturizer and it's antibacterial. Nice substitute for lotion, especially face lotion. It's also extremely gentle.

I don't know about dogs, but I would imagine that if it's good for humans, it might be good for dogs, too...

PS: You can get unrefined coconut oil for pretty cheap at Whole Foods or Amazon, and it's probably the same as whatever CocoTherapy is selling.

I wouldn't mind taking it myself, but can't stomach the idea of taking it by the spoonful. Think I'll start using it for dry skin (topically) first ;-). Yes...I saw it on Amazon and it was for a double quantity which was for a very good price. I paid for one jar what they're asking for two. Next time, I'm buying it there.

I started it myself today, as well as the dogs recently. Haven't done the dogs daily...every couple of days...but intend to do it daily for awhile from here on in with them.

We'll see if I see in any changes personally?? Lord know's I could use some weight loss help as well as memory help! Wait?? What am I writing about??LOL

Let us know how it helps you and the dogs. I'm really interested to know. I still can't believe I'd never heard of it before, I've been using alternative medicine for my immune health and other health issues for years and thought I knew about it all. :rolleyes2:

I'm thinking of trying it myself, since I'm sick constantly. Sadie could also use an immune system boost since she was on an antibiotic for a UTI and was on prednisone for almost 3 months in the summer/fall.
