What colors/Markings are your favorites?

I love the colour of Emma - dark/black colouring over her sable body. My Hamish was a darker sable with a full white ruff. Liam - his is the colour and marking of a tri I love.

Now a bi blue - that would be Ember's colouring. Just love her markings.

I am a traditionalist - I love the sable/whites (which all of mine are). I grew up watching Lassie

However, I also love the Bi-Blacks - I have fostered several Bi-Blacks and cannot believe that I let them all go to forever homes. I will have one someday . . .

I have met some lovely tri-color Shelties, and have fostered several . . . but all the tris I have fostered have had health issues. I know it was just the luck of the draw, and I don't mean this comment to insinuate the tri-colors are less healthy than other colors. I just haven't had good luck with them personally.

So, I try to stay with sable/whites . . . so maybe my neighbors can't really tell how many dogs I have at one time!

I've only had sables, 2 reddish sables, 2 bi-factored sables, who were more chocolatey brown with a black overlay, and a heavily shaded sable-- who was a reddish sable with a heavy overlay of black. I don't know yet which direction my new puppy will go, as he's pure for sable, body color looks reddish, but he has a dark overlay on his tail.

All that said, I prefer a reddish sable, with traditional irish pattern, with tipped ears. I'd also love to have a bi-black someday, as I find the color so striking.

Only one of my shelties have had a blaze. It was a good look for her, but I think I prefer a plain face. Maybe.

I'm not sure I have a favorite.

My girl is a very dark mahogany sable with white socks and a thin, incomplete white blaze. I think she's quite striking. I really like Sables with full white collars...but I don't think I'll have another Sable.

I've fallen for the dark side and really enjoy a nicely marked bi-black or a Blue Merle with a dark split face and nice big, well defined black markings on the body. I just find them to be eye catching and beautiful.

I like all colors. I have own everything but a sable merle.

I do have preferences though. If given a choice I like blues, then black then sable. Bi blues over Bi blacks and Tris over Bi blacks. But AOACs All have a fair shot with me.:smile2: Sorry but I would only get a sable if it was the best temperment in the world(ok I did)

I like my blues with 2 dark brown eyes. I really am not a fan of blues eyes. I can get over it but I don't prefer it. I like more blue than black on the dog and I like a obvious blue in a puppy. I don't want to think is that white or blue?

I like plain faces over blazes. I do not like big wide blazes that go up the muzzle or get close to the eyes. Full white colors over partial collars.

Temperment trumps everything though.

Well, unfortunately I don't have any digital pics of my angel, Skye. She was a mahogany sable with a plain face. And she was gorgeous. I love the dark sables.

I'd say I like any sable best, face markings unimportant. Ally has an unsymmetrical white half-stripe which suits her. Asta, a very thin white squiggle, Brooke a white muzzle splash with a thin blaze. All have full collars.

I quite like Brooke's bi-black look, it's very elegant. The only bummer is not being able to see her dark eyes in that black face very well. I'm picky about the blues, I do like more blue than black and not so much black on the face. I've often thought the blue merle is more attractive on Collies and Aussies for some reason.

Our friend's tri boy, Palmer is just so handsome, nice white blaze and a beautiful expression.

Hey, you know what??? I just love Shelties - ALL of them!
